[LFP] [D&D] [5e] [18+] Curse of Strahd - Saturdays 12:00 PM MST

Edited 1576250901
In a dark forest surrounded by thick, impenetrable mist, you and your friends travel down a rarely traveled road. You were supposed to be in Neverwinter several days ago, to meet a man there who had offered your party a job, but the road that was supposed to take you there has led instead led you to the isolated kingdom of Barovia. Several miles to the west, a tall figure in a billowing cape stands on the battlements of an ancient castle. The figure, who appears a handsome young nobleman, is the ruler of this land, and he has sensed trespassers in his kingdom…” Welcome to Barovia Hello there, my name is Daniel Morton, and I have been playing D&D for a little more than a year now. As fan of dark fantasy settings, I have been wanting to run a Curse of Strahd campaign since before I played my first game.  I am looking for 2-4 players to join me on a journey through the forsaken land of Barovia. I am relatively new to DMing, having only DMed a one shot before, but I am dedicated to making sure this campaign is fun for everyone! Notes About the Game • The game will take place weekly on Saturdays from 12 PM – 4 PM Mountain Time (11 AM – 3 PM Pacific Time; 1 PM – 5 PM Central Time; 2 PM – 6 PM Eastern Time). I’m hoping to have a one to two hour session 0 on Saturday December 21st to discuss the campaign and create characters. • Beginners are welcome! • I’m currently only accepting players from the continental United States and Canada. • There will be a few house rules such as a free feat on character creation, no ammo tracking, and simplified initiative (i.e. rolling a single, unmodified d20 for all the monsters’ initiative in an encounter).  • All Forgotten Realms races are allowed, including monstrous races. Races from Eberron and Ravnica are not allowed. • No Hombrew or Unearthed Arcana, only classes and races from official D&D sourcebooks will be allowed. • Hostility between PCs is not allowed. Your characters don’t necessarily need to like each other or agree on anything, but you cannot come to blows. • No Evil PCs.  • As a DM I emphasize Role-Playing and Story Immersion over combat and loot. I love it when players act out their characters and get invested in the story. If you’re a more combat focused player, this probably isn’t the right game for you. • We will be using Discord for voice  Application • First Name • Age • Time Zone • For how long have you been playing D&D 5E? • Describe a cool moment from a previous D&D campaign and why you liked it. If you’ve never played D&D before, tell me what got you to try D&D. • Tell us about a character that you would like to play. Please do your best to only use features, actions, qualities, etc that are observable by in-game entities. Do not describe your character as if going through character creation, picking the character's features. For example, do not say: "Reldovere Tonvoray is a Trickery Cleric with the Skulker feat". Describe that character instead as such: "Reldovere Tonvoray has always been quite the mischievous individual. Almost always seen, or should I say not seen, sneaking around the darker parts of town with other miscreants. Petty thievery, pranks, and toying with merchants and guards are but a few of his pastimes. Although he has many, his favorite trick certainly is when he pretends to have been caught, surrendering to the local law enforcement, only to burst out in a haughty laugh 50 feet down the road as he witnesses the reactions of the enraged guards that have only just realized that what they caught was, in fact, a decoy, a ruse." Please use the following format for your application and post it to the application thread below. I will contact you if I think your right for the game. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask me in the question thread below. Thank you for taking the time to read this, and I look forward to seeing your applications! Name: Emerance Age: 22 Time Zone: EST (NY) DnD Play Time: 7ish years. I have played as a DM more than a player.  Cool Moment: When my party spent an entire 3 hour session shopping, exploring my home brewed city, and role playing the birth of their owlbear pet. I appreciated thier willingness to invest themselves into their characters and not pester me about the lack of combat.  Character Idea: Kettam Mephori was raised in a peasant village along side his eight brothers and sisters. Illiterate but full of imagination, Kettam told his siblings stories of savage beasts and courageous knights locked in battle as they toiled in the fields. He felt a connection to the forests and rivers that juxtaposed the tough, rocky soil he was forced to dig. At every chance, Kettam would slip away into the forest and lose himself amongst the cold shade and jittering squirrels. On a cloudy, dark day Kettam ignored his better knowledge about the approaching storm and fled into the forest again, hoping to find fresh berries for his mother. The weather worsened faster than he expected and he became lost in the forest despite only being a mile from his home. Scared and soon wet from the torrent of rain, Kettam slid into the nook of a tree for shelter. After what seemed like hours of waiting, Kettam was jolted from his spot and sent flying away as lightning struck the tree and ran through him as well. From that day on, Kettam began to exhibit occasional fits of rage that were coupled with magical mishaps and electrical discharges around his body. His family and village quickly learned to feared him and begged him to leave. With a heavy heart, Kettam made his way to the nearest town, relying on his knowledge of nature to sustain him. In the town where Kettam found himself, he joined up with the city guard as an apprentice and formed his of morals while training to hone in his magical abilities. After a few months, Kettam found himself restless and uneasy in the town. He packed his limited belongs and set out for greater adventures.  Tempest Cleric of Akadi.
