[LFG] Any Players For Star Wars Game Based Off 5e Rules

1576634580

Edited 1576640114
I would like to start a Star Wars campaign based off rules developed from the D&D 5th edition rule set. Now, I know that you're thinking this doesn't exist. But, it does! I recently found a person who developed fully fleshed out and comprehensive conversions of the 5e rule set to a Star Wars setting. Since I found them I have wanted to run a game with these rules as I'm a fan of the ease of 5th edition D&D. If anyone is interested in this drop me a message. I will enclose a link to the rules, which are free, so that anyone can take a look. Star Wars 5th Edition     I hope to hear from people soon so we can make this campaign happen. The goal is to have a long term campaign. The timeline setting could either be Old Republic or further up in the timeline customized to set up a new story that removes the characters from being bogged down by the goings on in the movies etc. I have such a timeline setting already written out.  I don't have a planned time to start the game as of yet. Just looking for any interested parties so we can set up suitable times and the like. Thanks for looking.
I would be interested in giving this a shot!!!!!!!
Same here. I’ll follow this thread in case it goes further. Thanks!
Awesome to see folks interested. I've been contacted by a couple more enthusiastic people privately. So now I'm going to ask questions. For starters, in what era would people be interested in playing?  Personally, as stated in the original post, I lean towards eras that allow flexibility in character creation and leaves room for the player's characters to grow to a level thematically that the canon characters achieve. I can run the story in the Old Republic era (pre or post Mandalorian Wars) or I can run it in eras that aren't currently accounted for. I already have ideas and writes up done for timeline eras such as this. Worked on one that is set further up in the timeline from the new Star Wars canon and also have one I did that is set further in the future than the old Legends (Expanded Universe) timeline. I ask because I really want to tailor the experience and story for the players so that it has the potential to reach a grand scale. Your characters are the heroes, it's their story.  As far as characters themselves go, this conversion does a pretty good job of putting different classes on fairly equal footing as far as the game balance aspect of things go. I've been running games so long that I tend to like to have characters start slightly above first level. Just for the sake of this conversation, characters in this story would start at level 3. So you may plan character ideas accordingly. Any species and class listed in the Star Wars 5e stuff is acceptable. Try to lean the characters towards good to morally gray with good tendencies in the vein of alignment. We'll get more into the meat of character creation soon. I'll be looking to start the game sometime fairly soon after the holiday stretch for the obvious reasons. People have stuff to do this time of year. Any questions folks can ask are good questions.Again, thanks for the interest so far. I'm pretty excited to get this off the ground.
i would enjoy playing this but the only day i can play is saterday if that works and from my time zone is the uk GTM and if did play my fav time in star wars in clone wars setting  but i am willing to play any where can come up with char to fit
I would love to play if you'll have me, I'm CST and depending on what day I may be able to join. I would love to play in the old republic era
I would be keen as well! I'm a big kotor 1 and 2 fan. I love all star wars, but I definitely prefer the old republic era and legends in general.

For the Old Republic era setting, I'd be possibly inclined to set it somewhere between like 2900 BBY and 1030 BBY. Which would put the game in an area in the timeline of the Old Republic that is referred to as the Republic Dark Age. During that period the Republic itself is centered around the Core Worlds and Colonies, leaving much of the rest of the galaxy under control of various Sith warlords. This would give players a lot of leg room for creativity in character development. As well this allows me a lot of room to work with creatively as far as the NPCs that populate the galaxy go and the over all story without being too beholden to established content.   Again, feedback is always welcome and questions never hurt. Any input received helps to get this fine tuned to make this the most enjoyable story campaign to run possible for everyone involved. This particular stretch of time allows a practically unlimited amount of character background options and directions the story can go.
that sounds like of fun if i am able ot play already got few chars ideas for this time
Ooooooh this looks coooooool! Whether I can participate will strongly depend on the day and time of the sessions, though. I currently have 5e games going on Tuesdays (8pm CST), Wednesdays (7:30pm CST), and Saturdays (5pm CST); I also work Monday-Friday during the day. Is it possible to schedule around that? If not, that's totally fine.
Thank you very much. I'm putting a lot of work into this so it's very appreciated.  As far as times go, I'm fairly open and flexible. I'm in the EST time zone but I keep very odd hours. Any time that suits the players can work for me.

Sounds good! How will the game work with respect to character sheets? Most of the games I've played in have used the standard 5e sheet, so I'm not sure what's available on Roll20 in terms of homebrew that's loosely based on 5e. Should I start putting together character information in a separate document? Also, what's the method you want to use for ability scores?
Glad to see there’s interest. I can only do Tuesdays after 5pm pacific for the moment. Could you let’s us know your availability?
Here you can find the sheets they created for this system conversion:  SW5eAssets  . If you would like you can do so in a document. All that matters is I have a copy and you have a copy (obviously lol) when the game starts.  I like player characters to be a bit on the strong side. Thematically, they're heroes. Heroes in stories tend to have qualities that set them apart from everyone else. To keep everything pretty fair, I'd like to use the point buy system. But, instead of the standard 27 you may use 36. This will give the characters a little more of a boost.  As previously stated, create a character that is 3rd level.

Gotcha. I'm guessing that with the ceiling raised to 36 points, ability scores above 15 before racial modifiers are OK? A 16 would cost 12 points, according to the chicken-dinner calculator; is that correct? (I'm creating a Kel-Dor Fighter btw, in case anyone else wants to know for character selection purposes.)

Correct you are. That would be the point cost. I don't really care for the 15 rule so it is set aside.  Excellent choice with the Kel-Dor, by the by. They get some neat little perks just for being who they are.

I'm really excited to see this happen! I also have a couple of characters in mind a  Togruta or Human Sentinel, or Chiss or Human Scholar but those races can be switched around. I'm also thinking maybe Operative be as well.
LadyGates, either or are perfectly fine. You can't go wrong with Human in any class. Both the Chiss and Togruta have some nice additional species benefits as well. The Togruta's Montral Reception is a neat perk that I can see being very useful.
i had an idea for a char linked to dathomir if not i have few ideas once i go over the books fully
i'm pretty sure roll20 actually has a character sheet for the star wars 5e conversion
I was unaware they had that on here. Thanks, that's useful.
I want to play! I was just about to post a ad about this very thing
Awesome. I like seeing all this interest.  We haven't set a time or day to play as of yet. My schedule is wide open so I'm sort of leaving that up to everyone else. A few people have started making characters. I've already got groundwork done on the setting which is in the Old Republic era during a time referred to as the Republic Dark Age. I've got other things done on the GM side of things.  Any species and class in the 5e Star Wars is acceptable. I'm starting characters at level 3. This is so they aren't people just starting out. They've a little experience under their belt. So, this can lead to some interesting backstory being created for the character. We're using the point buy system, you get 36 points to spend and ignore the rule that states no score can be raised above 15 before racial bonuses. This is so that you have a character that is something of a cut above the "normal" person.  Any questions anyone has, I'm happy to answer them. As well I'm happy to work on things with you for your characters. Just drop me a message or post in this thread.
the only day i can make is saterday if that works i be super happy to join and will there be a discord for this game ?

If everyone interested can't make the same day and time, that's fine. I'm flexible in my schedule and can run multiple games. I like doing it so it's no problem.
clearly this lead to your muit games plottaing angeist one another lol
lol. Not necessarily. I'm just putting it out there. I can run different games to suit the days available for people interested. They don't have to be in the same era or run parallel. I have ideas and such for different eras, varying scenarios, and branching paths wrote up already. So, whatever times groups can agree on I can and will GM for you.
I'd love to join in, as I've been mentioning to Blade Master. I'm also Eastern and available Monday, Tuesday and Friday.
Right on. Anyone's welcome. Any questions you may have feel free to ask them. A few people are working up characters or have done so. Just people scheduling groups. As previously stated, my schedule is flexible so I'm leaving that up to people to form groups that work within their availability.
for me it have to be a game on saterday any time before 11pm gtm works
Timothy S, how many people would you be comfortable with going at one time.
Should we set up, like, a Doodle or something to find out when the best times are for the most people?

Agreed. A server would make it easy to keep track of who does what when. Personally I love the idea of a chiss Shadow sentinel. You can hide and still use a sniper rifle!

Certainly interested. Preferred dates would be Monday, Tuesday or Thursday. I am MST and can make 2030EST and later. Other days, time could work.
Hello! Read through this thread, and i'm definitely interested in joining, if you accept any more players. I have some experience with that system and my schedule is very flexible, if that's important.
