Tabletop Sentai Roleplayinger! Every kid wanted to be a Power Ranger, right? Well, now's your chance! "Tabletop Sentai Roleplayinger" is the working title for this Super Sentai RPG, which will be played using the Feng Shui 2 ruleset. In this game, you and the other PCs will work together to come up with your own Sentai (task force) of brightly colored spandex-wearing, helmeted superheroes who team up to defeat monsters of all kinds! You'll decide on a theme, color scheme, and the story for your Sentai team, and then we will play an episodic story of melodrama, cheesy action fight scenes, and giant kaiju/mecha battles! Combat : Very high! This is one of the main pillars of the game (the other being Teamwork/Friendship) Roleplay : High. Teamwork and friendship solve problems that fighting can't. Exploration: Low/None. Self-Direction: Low-to-High. Out of character, we'll work together as a group to come up with episodes, villains, and story arcs, but for the most part Super Sentai stories are about responding to threats. Player Buy-In: Shout! Call out team catchphrases! Do the roll call! Super Sentai is an over-the-top, cheesy series about colorful superheroes and rubbersuit monsters, so have fun with this! You need to be into the cheese, but not out of an ironic, fun-poking sense. It's very earnest and honest, playing its tropes straight for all their ridiculousness. Humor is intentional when it happens. Super Sentai is very often a very light, fun, happy show. People usually don't die, and any loss can be turned into a win with teamwork. Personally, I love this kind of thing, but I'm also a huge fan of darker stories that see characters die, and there are genuine stakes and tension where the heroes are not guaranteed to win. I'm okay with either - we'll decide as a group. Games will be played on Mondays at 6:30 PM CST and will run for about 3-4 hours. We'll use Discord for voice and Roll20 for gameplay.
