[Roll20][5e][EST]Testing Interest in a Long Term Game for 4-6 players

Hello. I am a DM with a few years of experience under my belt. I am just posting to test interest in a future long term campaign (exact date TBA). I would like to build the campaign/continent around the player characters themselves. Doing so may take a month or two hence why I am doing a test post. While it will be based around the players, I do have tastes. I tend to lean towards loose improv that tends to become goofy. More structured sections lean towards dark and gritty themes. Here's some of my inspirations, most of which are video games, to give you an idea of the themes I lean on. * Zelda * Berserk  * Dark Souls * Runescape *Existential philosophy * Lovecraft * Criticsl Role * Acquisitions Inc * And others I will be looking for 4-6 players. To apply, simply post a backstory that you think I would find interesting to weave into a homebrewed setting. If I like it, I will reply or PM you to accept you into the game. We will be using Discord for voice. My time is US EST. We will likely be playing on either Saturdays or Sundays. Exact times will be negotiated.

Hello! im fairly new to d&d but im not a noob to storytelling i do have one that is already a premade character but haven't RPed yet so take a look if you find it interesting =) Ahriman Brudus nickname “Ari” Race: half Tiefling/half Human Class: Alchemist Ari’s parents were having difficulty bearing a child, whatever they do they just aren’t able to bear a child, some even say they aren’t fit to raise one. One day, Miriam Brudus was so desperate for a child that she left the village in search for a demon that can help her, in her haste to find one and lack luster of knowledge with demons, the only one she knew was asmodeus, so the demon that came before her was supposedly named as him, so in the end the demon mated with her and thus she became pregnant, the village was shocked and so was her husband, they celebrated her unknowing on how she got her child in the first place, when the village was ready to deliver the baby, they weren’t ready to see a baby with purple skin, pointy tail, and two horns. The villagers committed to executing the baby and the mother but the husband Gedeon Brudus, still in love with his wife even though she betrayed him, helped them escaped and sacrificed himself for them to leave the village. All throughout the years the mother did what she can to nurture the baby, but with her weak body and weak mind, she succumbed to her death bed and disappeared to the nether realm and left her babe in a middle of the forest where a lone alchemist was walking by finding the baby and gave pity to it and carried to his cottage, there he grew up and was isolated from the outside world considering his appearance. He hated what he looked like but his care taker love him nonetheless, when his care take left for business, Ari would sometimes read the books in the cottage about alchemy, and there he learned about science and transformation, he learned everything on his own, he felt ashamed to seek for help, so he went out and find his own way to learn the basics of alchemy and when he learned how to transform temporarily into human he showed it to his care taker and was proud of his accomplishments he was angry at first knowing that Ari was learning alchemy behind his back. understanding the situation while secretly knowing about his past considering one of his business was searching for his parents then finding the village he was born in, the caretaker finally fed up with the secrets, told him the truth about his past, Ari confused by the events he became enraged and then transformed back into his demonic form and wreak havoc of the cottage. Getting back to his consciousness he have seen what he has done and instantly regretted everything so what he done would make it much worse, looking through the book is one where seemingly would bring back someone from the dead, without thinking of the consequences did it in impulse and have successfully brought back the caretaker to life, but not of a human, but a horrific being that would follow his will whatever they wish, with regret he kills it and cries alone in the ruins of his doings. Once he awakens seeing the wreckage, he promises to himself that he will find a way to remove his demonic side and to confront his biological father, so he packs his bag rummaged anything he could find from the wreaked cottage and went on his way.
Hello there, my name is Chris and I'm interested in joining your game.  I have been playing fifth edition since it first released and I have been roleplaying years beforehand.  Allow me to share with you the following character concepts I've been wanting to play for some time: Obelyn Tendael has been my first iconic character concept since the first of my games.  A Wood Elf Arcane Archer who has a drive to explore the realm in search of mystical secrets, knowledge, and artifacts that can increase his insights of his lost heritage.  Although he has a reserved demeanor, it does not withhold his actions of aiding others, and seeks to provide a balance in all the chaos for his friends.  He also deters himself from taverns, as he does not appreciate what the vices do for him. Rorge Ironfoot is a travelling undertaker, performing burial rites and funeral services for the souls lost without families and the adventurers who have not seen the rest of eternal sleep.  However, its not his only motivation for travel, as he often gambles with his drinking problem and has a bounty on his head for such after his last scuffle.  The spirits of the recent dead haunt him for reason he is unaware, and he intends to find out. Lastly, Syltilas Eren is a descendant of true love between orc and elf, and has been cursed with a taboo-viewed society that drove him to self-exile.  A thief at heart, and a mind full of wonder, he's recieved a gift he didn't earn, and he's going to find out why.   I have many more concept characters, and have no trouble with adaptation for the sake of the group.  If you'd like to know more about me, feel free to add my Discord Obe#2537, or through Roll20, in either case I look forward to hearing from you.  Thank you for your time.
Hi! I'm interested in playing, but I'm fairly new to RPG in general, though not to storytelling. I have an idea for character that I made through the DnD website. Name: Halydove Greenstone Race: Half-elf Class: Druid General Backstory: Halydove, who goes by Dove, was born of a great romance that fizzled out almost the moment her parents found they were pregnant.  Both of them had been high adventurers and never really considered the idea of a child. Her mother and father stayed together long enough for her to be born, then separated. Her human mother, Roslyn, returned to adventuring on the high seas. After her father, Carric, delivered Halydove to his family, he became a hermit and has since been living deep in the forest, unreachable.  Dove has never known either of her parents, and was instead left with a small circle of wood elves, led by her father's sister Sangabriel, who were fairly closed off from the world. Dove has often struggled with fitting in with the elves. She does her best to put up a front around them, but her human nature tends to make her act out without thinking. She is very conflicted about her deep connection with nature and her call of adventure. She has been largely sheltered by her aunt in a Forest Circle of Druids, but feels a call to the ocean. She has a strained relationship with Sangabriel and their arguments have become more frequent as Halydove has reached adulthood. Her Circle treats her as a child and she wants a reason to escape. Please let me know if this is something you can/want to work with. I am open to criticism as a new player. I am in CST and would be more comfortable with Sunday afternoons/ Saturday mornings. Thanks!

Daughter of a tribal Chief & last of her people,  Frandelphia is a Druid Shield maiden and has lived most of her life near the shores of the sea of  Ice. Frost Giant raiders destroyed her village and killed her people. Since then she has wandered along the coast alone and without companionship. Recently she has migrated inland from the coast following the path of the rivers. She has seen much which has amazed her of the big cities and perfect villages but her heart is still burns at the loss of her tribe.   Her most precious possession is the Club she uses as both a Druid focus & Weapon. Frandelphia crafted this club herself from some driftwood she found on a pebble beach as a child. The wood is as strong as any wood she has ever worked and she has shod the club with Iron.  The hand grip is whaleskin and kord & has a crag cats claw hanging from it for good luck. She is unaware that the wood she found came from the keel of a Frost Giant Longship. A ship used as a funeral pyre for a frost Giant King who was favoured the Giant gods.

Alchemist class? I don't think that is in D&D 5e. Are you thinking of artificer?
Hey there, I'm fairly new to D&D but role play is something I've been doing almost since I was old enough to talk. As far as a backstory would go just off the top of my head: Balasar is the last survivor of his Yarjerit clan after a three year long war with a larger clan. His family had already perished by that point around his 12th birthday, so to earn his keep he began hunting in the wilds for the clan leader and his aides. He was out on a hunting trip during the climatic battle of the war, and when he returned it was to a razed village. With nowhere else to go, Leaper as he was still called at that point took the name Balasar, gathered what supplies he could from the village and melted back into the wilds. A year later while eking out a living in the harsh environment he met a traveling mercenary band made up of humans. Its leader, a woman known as Lizbeth took a liking to Balasar and invited him to join them. For the next five years until his 18th birthday he remained with the band, learning the arts of a fighter from Lizbeth.
