We are seeking an experienced D&D
player (doesn’t have to be much or even 5e), or player/DM, to join our diverse
group (ages range from 20-40ish) for long-term campaigning, role playing, and
butt-kicking fun.
We are a long-term group who have
decided to add another player after losing one to life issues. A few of us have
played together for about 2 years and another who joined us about a year ago. We play every Saturday and 6pm EST and are
looking for someone who will make a determined effort to show up on a weekly
basis.
What we play:
We play D&D5e story-driven campaigns, with
a mix of tactical combat and role-playing, where your actions (or inaction) impact
the living world around you. I am the primary DM and I run games that are
challenging, so character deaths happen. Although sometimes the game setting
might have some restrictions, most content is usually allowed with all content
needing final DM approval.
We play whatever published material we decide
on or the Daily Homebrew. Currently, we are about to start White Plume Mountain
as part of the Tales from the Yawning Portal campaign series. We are open to
starting a second, alternate game, or another adventure track. We are a flexible
group and consider both player and DM input as to what we play. Once decided,
it becomes the DM’s game to adjust as they see fit. The DM has final say in all
matters during game play.

What we are looking for someone who has:
Some role-playing & roll playing experience with a basic familiarity
with Roll20
A strong preference for cooperative play, a Rules
As Intended (RAI) approach, preference challenging game play, a comfort level
with role play and roll play, an appreciation of strategy and tactics as well
as spontaneity (i.e. planning & action).
Ideal characteristics include : a sense of Humor, a flexible and creative thinker,
Humility, Conscientiousness, Openness, and Agreeableness
*Bonus* If you can, or might be willing to, DM at some point and serve
as an alternate DM to help share the heavy load once in a while.
About me :
I’m an old school player in a new school world.
I had stepped away from gaming for several years and a couple years ago started
playing (tabletop) again with a few friends, until the game was called on
account of life (jobs, moving, etc.). So, here I am…reinvigorated and wanting
to play…let’s give a try. One of the biggest issues I have found here is
finding a consistent, solid group of people that can last for the long term.
This is the challenge…
I have about 15 years of TTRPG gaming experience, primarily with earlier
versions of D&D, where I have mostly acted as a DM. For the
last two years or so I have served as the primary DM for our D&D5e group on
Roll20. I ran a successful yearlong campaign and have started running a series
of connected adventures through Tales of the Yawning Portal for the last year
or so. We usually take our time playing through these adventures to help allow
for PC growth, newly created story arcs, and role-play that might not have been highlighted
in the current setting. Also, as mentioned above, I run a challenging game, so
the players have learned the importance or planning, strategy, and knowing thine
enemy. I
spend a good amount of effort and energy setting up encounters, story-lines, and
themed soundtrack.
What I expect
from party members : To be respectful of each other, have a cooperative play style,
to know your character, to contribute to the group experience, and to make a genuine
effort to be on time and not be a “No Show”.
We are not interested in rules
lawyers, large egos, or argumentative people. Don’t be a D*ck.
What I expect from a DM : Someone knowledgeable & engaging, who works to maintain a
good game balance, with the ability to adjust in-flow and highlight each
player. The DM has the right to alter what they see fit, but with do so with
the immense responsibility of honoring the sacred trust of the players while
maintaining balance; and do so mindfully with great care.
