Tired of running the shadows in Seattle? In need of a change of scenery? Why not join up with the River City Wrecking Crew? Tales
of the River City Wrecking Crew is a budding Shadowrun 4A campaign set
in the Omaha-Council Bluffs Metroplex of 2072. Currently the game is in
the planning stages but we'll be making our maiden run on March 30th. To
alleviate scheduling and travel headaches, we'll meet every two weeks
for the game online through Roll20 and if possible, Google Hangouts so
we can all communicate verbally online. We'll also have Facebook,
Google+ and a blog page where the game schedule will be posted in
addition to the Obsidian Portal page . What
makes this game different isn't just the locale; it's that it isn’t
your average Shadowrun campaign. A lot of times the stereotypical
campaign can be described as “mercenary” or “organized mayhem”. “Tales”
is intended to be a little more heroic and cinematic. The influences and
inspirations of this campaign include Leverage, Buffy the Vampire
Slayer, and Angel, along with a variety of cyberpunk authors and movies.
I think the best way to sum up what I'm going for here is "rogues with
hearts of gold". What I'm also looking for is an emphasis on roleplaying, keeping the min-maxing to a... er... minimum ;) As
I'm a neophyte Shadowrun GM but long-time lover of the setting, we're
going to start out simple, using the character generation rules posted
here:

As time goes on, we can add more books to the library, but we're going
to crawl before we walk, etc. A more in-depth overview of the
game concept can be found here .
Character generation guidelines are here . Two
character slots have already been filled. I'll take character
submissions up to March 20th whereupon I'll let the lucky players know
they've been chosen. As this will be an "ensemble" cast or
"troupe-style" game, all others will be put on a waiting list to be
contacted when and if players leave and characters die. So who am
I? My name is Dale Meier. I'm a veteran gamer of 27 years, having spent
21 of those as a GM at a variety of home, college and convention games.
My interests span a wide variety of genres ranging from historical to
science-fiction RPGs as well as some wargames. I was also one of the
original contributors to the Interregnum APA in the 1990s. My first
experience with RPGs was getting a second hand magenta-boxed Moldvay
Basic D&D set at age 12; after that I branched out to WEG's D6 Star
Wars RPG. My first GM experience? Running SJG's Toon for a couple of
high school friends during Christmas break! XD Since then I've run a
wide range of games including Pathfinder, Spycraft 1.0, Traveller, DC
Universe, the D6 system, Paranoia, Red Dwarf and Call of Cthulhu. So
if you want to run the shadows of the midwest and see how people live
out east in the Awakened frontier of 2072, drop me a line!
