"A safe ship never leaves the harbor. They are crushed by waves upon the rocks or attacked by monsters from the depths. Sometimes they disappear into the mist; never to be seen again. But if you are here adventurer, you aren't looking for safety." The System
So what is Dungeon World? It's a game where your Heroes do amazing things, they struggle together against impossible odds, saving kingdoms and defeating monsters. Heroes grow and change based upon their bonds and interactions in a world that is created collaboratively during play. The GM isn't the sole arbiter of the world or story, they evolve through the fiction of the game itself from conversations between everyone. Its a game for those that believe the world still has many places left to explore and you want to do that together.
The players together create a deep and interesting world and situate their characters inside it. With mechanics that encourage this by rewarding you for trying and failing checks and for writing and fulfilling your bonds even when it's not the optimal move.
We ask questions and use the answers.
The Schedule
This,~8-week campaign will try and build on the core strengths of this system. A narrative-driven collaborative adventure where together we will explore our characters and the world they inhabit, asking big questions of fate and consequence. You don't need any prior knowledge of Dungeon World or TTRPGs, this will be my first time running the system (though I have run 5e extensively and a handful of other systems) and I plan on having 3-4 players. The only things you need to bring are enthusiasm for storytelling, a good attitude and a willingness to learn. Sessions will last around 4 hours.
The Standards
Finally, this is also an LGBTQ+ friendly space and I will not tolerate any abuse. This is a story of a group, not an individual and everyone should feel welcome in it. If you can't be civil or you act like an asshole you can find another campaign.
The only other thing I ask is that you read through the basics of the rules( https://roll20.net/compendium/dw/BookIndex ) and don't come with a preset character in mind (though concepts or general ideas are fine). It will start on the 7th March at 6 pm GMT.
