This isn't your average dungeon-crawling group. Games are played in Skype messenger, text only, and Roll20 is used for dice rolling. It is narrative only, no maps or minis. Games are pick-up style. With two DMs and one with a crazy schedule, we often have only 24 hour notice before a game is on, but PMs are sent out so everyone is aware. These games do tend to run into late nights, often 12 or 1 AM PST. Sessions are episodic so players are not penalized for missing a session and there is IC explanation for their absence. There are some house rules that can be explained further through private message. The game itself is character- and story-driven. New players and characters with strong personalities are welcomed. Non-combat solutions to problems are encouraged, although we do still fight some bad guys. Everything is a bit more gray-scale than in vanilla D&D. Demons and devils aren't *always* evil. That orc with a big sword is something of a civil rights advocate. Characters are all from a DM-created world, though we aren't actually *there*. Everyone has been abducted by a half-broken, plane-hopping, sentient ship that is randomly jumping from plane to plane. (Think Sliders meets Farscape.) People who wake up in the pods have been cursed and will die within five years if the random violence and destruction inherent to a broken plane-hopping ship don't kill them first. Generally, you should be prepared for anything. We've had sessions where we were set upon by rhinos or creatures made of goo, and sessions where we avoided being abducted by a dragon by distracting her with a chat about where babies come from. We rescued an incubus from a breeding dungeon and had a younger version of one of the NPCs brought from the past by Tiamat. We've landed on a plane where they use iron for currency and gold is as common as dirt. Literally *anything* can happen when we jump from plane to plane. This is a social game, and the players tend to "hang out" in an OOC chatroom on Skype between sessions where we talk about the game and other random stuff. This isn't just joining a game, but a group (though participation in the OOC room is not *mandatory*).
