[5e][Paid][MON 8-12][EST] The Swords of Edgegate (Sandbox, Persistent, Established, Homebrew, Multi-Party World)

1582880780

Edited 1582922593
The Swords of Edgegate The Edgegate Swords Guild, a proud free-operating associate of the Crownhold Adventurers Guild--mostly. That "free-operating" bit has been hard-won. The "Crowns", as locals call members of the overarching organization known as the Crownhold Trading Company, aren't too keen on anyone being all too free-operating. In practice, the adventurers of Edgegate lose a little bit more of their autonomy every year. Everyone gets paid a little less, the "incorporation fees" go up, and more and more by-laws and purely political operating procedures are introduced. But who cares? You're a rookie. You don't have to worry about all of that just yet. Make it to apprentice rank, Associate, and then maybe you'll get to think just a few of the big thoughts. Right now it's your sword-arm that needs to be honing its edge, not your wit. That'll come later when you have to think for the next generation of youngbloods--if you ever get to that point... The last guys to sail off to Firstwave Isle, well, don't worry about that until you get there. The guild didn't send a journeyman or a spellcaster with them. You lot will have it easy. Why you should play Custom battle-maps for most locations and quests,  all made weekly by me. Custom world, custom monsters, custom story. Very heavy role-play opportunities. Guaranteed and consistent play-time. I will always keep the party going, adding in new players and people if we lose any. OOC This will be a heavy-tactics, heavy-roleplay, sandbox kind of game. There won't be even a bit of railroading and you can mostly do what you want. You'll start off as hired-on associates of the Edgegate Swords Guild sent to investigate "Firstwave Isle". Ships have been disappearing off its bluffs and there are strange whisperings of some forgotten lurker in the deep-black of the Abyssian Sea. This is a persistent, established world you'll be playing in. I run multiple games in this homebrew world at the same time and have been running parties through it for years, though this is a newer region. What you do will shape the history of the setting and affect other players who are playing at the same time as you and vice-versa. Rules Every race (minus elves, they don't really get seen often in this world) and class from official WOTC publishings are allowed in any combination. Unearthed Arcana content is allowed. Some tweaking lore-wise for some races may need to be explained. Multiclassing is allowed. By-the-book rulings for the most part, but the DM has the final say. Payments must be made even if the session is missed. Missing two sessions in a row will lead to possible termination depending on circumstances. The party will always be kept to five players. If a player drops out of the group permanently then I will work someone else into the group. About Me I've been DM'ing for about six years now. This is my personal homebrew setting and it's gone through a lot throughout the years. I'm pretty laid back and prefer my players to drive the plot with their motivations. I write the story around you and your fellow players' actions and like to keep it that way. Essentially, I prefer not to write a story for you to follow, but rather a story that is written as you follow your passions. What does the money go towards? Tiles, city-maps, artwork, etc, mostly. This is a new region of my setting. I'd like to commission hex maps and city maps for all the major locations and the country-side first off. So your money will initially be going to things you'll directly benefit from in-game. Whatever is left over I'll keep for myself, but I doubt it'll be much for the first few months of the game tbh. Good art isn't cheap and tile packs can get a little pricey in bulk. This game will require payment to the Game Master at a rate of 20.00 USD to be paid via Paypal per 3/4-hour weekly session. Roll20 is not responsible for any payment transactions and cannot enforce any private arrangements.
Wish I could play cuz this is totally up my alley, but have multiple projects going unfortunately- BUT if you can shoot me a dm I may have an idea to run by you!
Got one player. Four slots left.
