I was wondering whether it is currently or is a planned feature to have 3D models in the marketplace as I personally would be very interested in creating assets in that regard, if it is possible any details on that would be greatly appreciated.

Assets with a 3D appearance might be doable depending on quality, but no models or skins for things like 3D as of yet. nolan at roll20 dot net if you'd like to apply with some samples.
