Make inch/feet scale a gm controlled variable

So, i don't know if i just missed this, but i found the only way to make a hex to be a scale 3-feet/yard/meter each is to change the hex size from on inch to 0.60 inches (or 3/5 of an inch). while, i suppose, that is a quick and easy way to do it, I do prefer have my grid be a full inch, and want the measuring tool to reflect them being a yard each. could i also suggest a way to make it work on a metric scale? i don't really want to sound whiny or overly demanding, and i have found a work around, I just thought it'd be nice to have an input box for '1 [hex/square] = [x] [feet/meters]'
Take it a step further, leave the [feet/meters] box blank (or default "inches") and let the user to enter his own, so one hex could be a mile or km, a league, stadia or furlong for archaic settings, a Ly or Parsec for outerspace settings, etc etc
The measurement tool is on the roadmap to get an overhaul. I'm not sure when, but it's definitely on the devs' list.
Since it is arbitrary, the definition for how big a square/hex and what unit of measure should purely be a user setting. It's fine to default to 5 and feet. But let the user change it. Since all this does is affect the number displayed in the tape measure, it should be easier to implement.
