You can put character tokens on any map. The players will only be able to see the map that the red Player Flag  (or Player Bookmark)is set to, unless you Split the Party . If you have placed copies of their tokens on a page they cannot yet see, the tokens will be ready and waiting for them. At the free level, you will need to manually move players from page to page by the methods described above. Pro subscribers have access to script that can let player navigate themselves to specific pages.
Ah, I can move the flag! Is there an easy answer on how to allow players to see maps as a reference?  I was trying to under journal somehow.. just not quite sure.

If you create a handout in the journal, you can set the image to be the map, then share permissions with all players and they can open the journal entry with the map in it. They can then click on the image to enlarge it. You can also host the image somewhere (like in your game forums) and enlarge the image there, and copy/paste that into the text field of a handout, and they can see the map in the text area and as they expand the handout, it will expand the map up to the size of the handout borders. I do this all the time. It's a great way for players to be able to see a city map, or world map and you can even put the map key in the text as well (as text or as an image)

You can also do this in chat (which would allow you to make a player-accessible macro). Host you map image somewhere (Roll20, Imgur, your own space somewhere, it just has to be on the internet). Create a macro with the following code: [map](URL of image) The image will appear in chat. If anyone clicks on it, the original will open in a new window at full resolution. This video shows the technique, at about 1:50. If you are interested in how to do map pins on a map without being a Pro subscriber, I discuss some techniques here:  Map Pins .
