I generally tend to think that going through character generation would be best, as we could make the choices in it that would allow us to nudge our characters in the direction we want to go. Especially if we plan to go into a larger campaign. But in this case, for a one shot, a pregen might save a lot of work and let us hop right in, but it runs the risk of either requiring a lot of them to cover all the bases or leaving some stuff out. If we don't want to go through the involved process, and you know what module you plan to run, pregens have the advantage of being suited to the module. I mean, I mention leaving things out, but if a thing isn't going to come up during the module, then it might be best not to make it seem like an option for that module. Don't get me wrong, I definitely want to build characters for the larger campaign if it happens, and would be okay building one for the one shot, but having characters suited to what is going to be going on would be useful for the one shot and pre-gens allows you to make sure that the skills are where they need to be, the group has connections to each other, and saves everyone some work. I have to imagine that making a handful of pre-gens is easier than the cat herding involved in watching and assisting character creation with new players. As for Monday or Tuesday, I am fine with either, but have a slight preference for Monday. It is nothing serious and it is no problem if we decide on Tuesday if other people have that desire.
