So i pre ordered explorers guide to wildemount. It is officially releasing tomorrow, The 17th of March. Now I dont know whether or not it is a typo, or it is just 2 months delayed (I'm going to guess the first) but it currently reads may 17th. Is it a typo? is that date correct?

It looks to be a typo. The announcement lower down (which looks to be programmatic) says: t  This is a pre-order; the Bundle will unlock on  Tuesday March 17 10:01AM PDT (1 day from now)
