It's just a few years after “The Last War,” a century-long civil war that divided the continent of Khorvaire and shattered a grand kingdom. Although a tenuous peace exists, the conflicts, anger, and pain of the long war remain as nations old and new, along with the “dragonmarked houses” that exist much like magical megacorporations, angle for advantages and prepare for war to break out once more. Near the end of the War, the nation of Cyre was demolished in a cataclysmic event known as the Day of Mourning. What remains of Cyre is now called the Mournland, a once-powerful kingdom now turned into a postapocalyptic magical wasteland. Only the foolhardy and desperate venture into that place. . . Are you a surviving veteran bearing scars of the Last War? A warforged created to win it and now searching for new purpose in a time of temporary peace? An orc Gatekeeper Druid from the Shadow Marches, charged with protecting this land from the madness of the daelkyr? Whatever you are, you are also a Scavenger. An outpost called Salvation has sprung up on the edge of the Mournland, populated by desperate Scavengers hoping to make money by looting valuable items from Cyre’s smoking remains: an area they call the Gray. Scavengers join together to form Salvage Crews that brave the unpredictable and often deadly landscape of the Mournland. Some work for powerful patrons, others work for salvage brokers, and still others work for themselves. Who will you be when the legends of this next decade are finally written?
