FATE Dresden Files Game LFG

Well, I haven't had any luck becoming a player in a Dresden Files game, so I've decided to go the GM route and start one up. I'm looking for 4-5 players for a Dresden Files game I will be running using Roll20 and Skype. Game time is 7:00 or 8:00 PM CST on Fridays for 3 or 4 hours. I would like our first session to be as soon as this coming Friday, March 15. The game will be set in New Orleans, current day, at the Chest Deep power level. I picked New Orleans because of the great cultural fusion, politically and socially ripe plot environment, and rich history. It should be a fun place to center a modern fantasy. If you are interested, post a proposed character High Concept and Stage 1 (for those not FATE savy, that means, in a few words sum up what your character would be, and also give a short description of their early, pre-drama life.) Prior experience with FATE is not necessary. I'm happy to teach. Knowledge of the Dresden novels would be a benefit. . . Go read them! They're really good! Or get the audio books; they're even better. I've been trying to be a player in a FATE game for awhile now. Four different games have collapsed because of people committing, then backing down. If you sign on for this game, please make sure that you can regularly make the time commitment.
Is there anyway this could be a Saturday game? I've been looking for a Dresden FATE game but Friday just cant work for me.
Hello, I'm new to FATE but I've read the Dresden RPG book as well as some of the novels and I'm very interested in playing. Here's my character idea: High Concept - Were-Owl Photographer Nathan Hendricks always knew he was meant to be weilding a camera rather than riding a desk. Photojournalism, art, and even a little mild surveillance on the side; any kind of work was worth doing as long as it involved his camera and the well trained skill of framing the perfect shot. It was after a recent job that he got interested in owls. He was hired to photograph the nocturnal hunters in action, and he couldn't help but identify with their patience and careful stalking of their prey. The job was done and the payment received, but he was still stopping to check out books on owls any time he came across a new bookstore. Eventually he got in so deep he didn't notice when things started to get weird. One day he was a he was an average joe photographer who liked to approach a shot like he was a bird stalking its prey. They next day he was flying around above the rooftops of New Orleans. If that meant he could get shots from angles no one else would dare to try, well that was just fine. +++ I'll probably want to play around with my concept once I hear what other people are doing, but this is a good rough draft. Let me know what you think!
Looks great Brian, you're in. I've sent you my Skype information. Go ahead and add me to your contacts, and if you feel like discussing setting or characters or anything just IM me on Skype. And Michael, for now I'm going to stick with Friday. If I have trouble filling out a roster for that day and decide to move the game time, I'll let you know.
Big fans of the book series would love to play and am free on fridays. (reading up on character gen now and will edit with concept soon) High Concept- C.E.O Hell's Collector ------- Every one has a price everyone wants something. That's where i come my name is Adam Blackwell and it is my job is make sure you get what you want and in that bargain it's only fair i take something? It started out easy enough buy a foreclosed house kick the family out flip it and profit.Scare the old lady into selling her house so a big devolper could build his next smoothie shack. I was driven with the pursuit of profit the pursuit for power and influence the American Dream and in a town like New Orleans overflowing with suckers and dead beats it was easy enough to step on them to get where i wanted. One Day though someone made me a bargain i can't refuse power influence and all i had to do was go around and collect on a few contracts, how was i suppose to know who she was they were made up stories to scare the young and old...
The idea has a lot of story potential Mal, I like it. That gives us four players so far, three with declared concepts and one without. Mal, would your character be a pure mortal, or more of a minor talent? In any event, I've sent you my skype handle. IM me and we'll discuss it more. I would still love to have someone play a full on wizard.
As a fan of the series, I've always been curious about the Dresden Files RPG but have never had an opportunity to check it out. If you don't mind a newbie to FATE, I might be interested.
I'm happy to teach the system Matt. If you're a fan of Dresden files and can make the Friday time regularly then it'd be great to have you. Like I mentioned in the original post, I would like prospective players to give me a general idea of their character. Namely, post the "High Concept," which is a few word summary your character (like "Wizard PI," "Special Investigations Detective," or "Jock Werewolf.") Also post your Phase 1, which is a three or so sentence summary of your characters early life (before really interesting/weird stuff starts happening.)
I had a couple ideas, but I wasn't entirely certain how far to go into the details of a Phase 1. The first idea I had was for a full wizard from a family of politically connected minor talents. So by default his life was weird, but my plan was for everything to kind of finally go to hell right after he finished his apprenticeship. I'll PM it to you and maybe you can tell me what you think.
Scott, I'd be interested in joining your game. I have experience playing Dresden, but only as the GM. Would like a chance at playing. Here's my character idea: Wilhelm Metzger, High Concept: Vulcan's Shadow. I'm from Birmingham, AL and this was an NPC from a game I ran. Wil was a sort of like an emissary of power for Vulcan ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vulcan_statue). ------ Metzger grew-up bullied and ostracized by "normal" people in his community - everyone said the Metzgers were crazy because they thought they were "psychic or gifted." This lead to a dislike of everyone who didn't have magical talent of some sort (Trouble Aspect: If You're Not Gifted, You're Nothing -- or something like that, but mostly a less severe Magneto complex). Wil Metzger is a talented "shadowmancer" (Spirit Channeling). ------- Let me know if you still have room. I'd like to join and I can come up with another character if you don't like this one. Z
Interested. Probably an alchemist specialist with some ritual magic. I bought the .pdf of the rules and have played before. I'll think about if I can commit. Jaime Domingo. High Concept: Santeria Alchemist
