[LFP+GMs] [DND5e] [18+] Dreaming of adventure? Join our roleplay-heavy lore-centric Forgotten Realms r20 / Discord hybrid game server!

        Hi! I'm Maus, your local guide to adventure! Well, no, actually, I'm a nerd who's obsessed with roleplaying and this is my attempt to drag you into one of the funnest game worlds I've ever been in -- Sword Coast Adventures, set in the Forgotten Realms! Join our Roll20 game to get started on making your character. (You'll need to join our Discord server and forums too!) When you're approved you can begin play -- maybe you'll join one of our weekly games or enter an arena for gold and glory? Or you could always just play-by-post with us!         Recently in-game an Amnian woman came upon a wondrous item (a Deck of Many Things) and settled down in the Friendly Arm Inn to sell draws from the deck to adventurers. A pair of elven bladesinger twins were separated when one of the sisters drew the Donjuan and disappeared into an interdimensional tomb; an elvish Divine Soul sorcerer turned from chaotic good to lawful evil and attacked a drow on sight in the tavern before being carted away; said drow girl drew the Fates and is still contemplating what to do with it. Demons found new enemies that day (and lured a few new souls into their service with promises of fixing the problems caused by their bad luck), player characters found themselves suddenly in the possession of new items, deeds to strongholds, and one person got a sidekick. It was really fun! We even had an Arena so everyone who wanted to could afford to buy a draw!         For an idea of what we allow for characters, here are some of our PCs (do keep in mind I am describing PCs who have been awarded interesting things IC for roleplay, such as being Chosen or champions or the like): Folk hero of the Sword Coast, Chosen of Ilmater, and grand-daughter of Asmodeus, Charity the tiefling is bad with people yet still constantly seeks the best in the world and those around her -- though when lives are on the line and people need saving she's the first to jump in the fray. She loves her husband Bhogg, a wild man of the woods and eternally stoned druid,and together with three faerie dragons they live in the town they saved. Stern, and serious, with a perpetually calm demeanor, Reglidon Nerilynn is a wizard who always has a plan. Whether his beloved wife, a cherished friend, or a despised enemy, no one is beyond becoming a pawn in the machinations of this Harper Mastermind. Selise, the tiniest powerhouse of paladin goodness and light Toril has ever seen. Harper, champion of Neverwinter and Mintarn, and tamer of the Chosen of Shar... ...and her husband, said Chosen of Shar, the tactician and Lord of Jolkoun "Drake" Gratul Draakengard. Raised by his parents to be Shar's chosen he has turned away from her darkness and embraced the god Hoar. Now he helps protect Toril with his wife and their companions. When Justice is Outlawed, then only Outlaws can have justice.  Such is the lot of Hodgins Eckhart, the face behind the mask of a secretive adventurer who has appeared to help those who the laws of society no longer protect. Bae'ynrae the Eilistraeen drow might be one of the nicest people you'll ever meet, even if she's not the brightest or the strongest. "We just need to be clever and kind!" is her motto, and she lives by it every day. Bae's an aspiring Harper, a far-traveled adventurer, and also a magical girl (Glamour Bard 4 / Eldritch Knight 4 / Wild Magic Sorcerer 1 baybee!) Whisper, Bae's best friend (or worst enemy?), a drow-hating rogue on a quest for revenge even as he tries to keep one step ahead of his mysterious past. Known mostly for being a little scuzzy and stealing Bae'ynrae's panties one time.          NOTE: This is a mixed voice / text server, mostly voice right now. Reviews from Whisper's player: Hi everyone, if you are looking at this post it means you may be seeking to have fun with DnD5e as either a DM or a player.   Sword Coast Adventurers (SCA) has a lot of great players and DM's here; but we could always use more like-minded and fun people in our family.   I've only been part of the group for about 1.5 months and have made many friends.   This server IS for people 18+ as it can get risque at times (plus I'd like to think we are all relatively mature).  The server leaders are very active and try to ensure everyone is playing on the same level grounds. This is not a hack-n-slash type of server.  It has a balance of roll playing and adventures (many times both).  Most adventures are done through discord voice chat, but that is not a requirement - there are several players with children and other circumstances - and text their actions in Roll20 during adventures. Yes, a few people have been banned from the server for:  being a bully, being rude to staff and other players, or arguing the rules after leadership has evaluated and answered the question (with creativity we all know DnD can be interpreted in various ways - again leadership tries to keep it fair for all).  It is those type of actions that act as rotting apples to any server.  So if that's your personality, you won't last long. All characters are created using 5e rules (no home brews) but with lots of flexibility.   They are all reviewed by server leadership for approval before being able to adventure - this process usually only takes a couple of days.  SCA also has a forum page that tracks rules, character creation and adventures.  If you are new to DnD5e, don't be discouraged, leadership is very helpful.  Or if you want to jump in quick, there are several pre-generated characters to choose from to get you into the fray (just ask). What has happened since I joined this server?   Well... so far (to name a few) (without any spoilers) we have saved a town from demonic forces; rescued a trading ship which supplies much needed goods to local cities; raided a manor full of baddies for a family in need; and we held a 3-week roll playing campaign to save Baldur's Gate from civil unrest (with several adventures and player characters on both sides of the city factions). If this sounds like something you might enjoy, please join up.  The Roll20 and discord links are on the main page. -Sly- (administrator) --- Hi everybody, now into month 2 in Sword Coast Adventurer's.   I'm now one of the very active staff in our discord server and on our forums.  I have to say, I have met a lot of great people here from all over the world.  We recently went through a 'purge' of inactive people and have a solid 30+ active players.   But on a sad note, some of our DM's needed to pause a bit due to life events; which means that the remaining DM's are working hard to keep activity going for the players.   So, this is a shout-out to anyone who has a creative mind and has an interest in storytelling, role playing (RP) and of course DMing a campaign in 5e setting. Since my last post, the adventurer's have ransacked a bandit island saving them from evil tyranny and traveled the Underdark to save an dwarven city from an invasive ooze (still on-going).  Also on-going, is a series of adventures where the party is trying to keep two worlds from colliding that will destroy Faerun as we know it!   Tonight the saga continues - and hopefully we will slay a few vampires, werewolves and who knows what else the DM has in store for us *grinds his teeth at the thought, and at the DM's evil cackle* So if your mature, have a good attitude, want to make a few friends, and have an adventure you would like to try out - come and see us, we won't bite (unless turned into vampires, then no promises). --- December 2019 update:  Sword Coast Adventurers, and any new curious people, everyone at SCA hopes you all had a great year, and we look forward to some great adventures in 2020.  Since my October post, we've had some pretty spectacular adventures and role playing.  Our adventuring heroes saved all of Faerun from the planar melding of two portals that would have reaped havoc upon the entirety of the Sword Coast.  In addition, they had to eliminate a tyrannical Elven Lord and his family who were trying to return Fae back to the days when elves ruled the land (imagine the blood shed)... but ... this plot still continues with a last minute twist and intervention by Lolth, the spider queen.   A new party of heroes is working with the dwarves of Morinhold to uncover a plot by the White Sails to take control of all shipping lanes on the coast - there may be a dragon or two (or three?) involved, but whose counting? We are always looking to expand the community with new (fun and active) players and DM's.   Yes, we have rules, and a governing committee that are elected by the people, for the people.  So if you join and think 'I can jump right in' don't be alarmed if it takes a few days for you to create a character, with a good back story.   We do not have home brew, although there are some rules we have created on our own, and vague in the rules books, to make the player experience better and more rewarding. As mentioned in previous posts, this is a MATURE community - you must be at least 18 years of age.  Things can get a little bit crazy and perverse at times - okay so most of it is spawned by my rogue/thief Whisper to likes to steal a particular female drow's undergarments - but hey, we tend to laugh a lot.   So if you like a mix of RP to Adventuring - some see what you think of SCA - and don't be shy!  I've met some amazing people on here.
