5E OGL sheet question

I'm a new DM on roll20.  I came to this game because of the pandemic.  I bought the DM Essentials kit which included the PHB and MM.  My players were in the middle of a campaign (Tomb of Annihilation) so I created their character sheets using the 5e OGL sheet but did it manually for each character rather than going through the charactermancer.  I did this, in part, because my players are playing classes, races, archetypes, etc.  that are not in the compendium (For example, one of the players is a Firbolg which comes from Volo's).   The problem I'm having is that I can't seem to load class features from the compendium into the character sheet.  For example, my barbarian got Danger Sense at level 2.  That's a standard barbarian class feature that's in the compendium.  But, I can't drag&drop it to the sheet.  I can enter it in by hand... but when I click on the entry in the "features and traits" box, the compendium entry does not open.  When I click on the little bubble that appears to display it to chat, I don't get the full explanation from the compendium - just what was typed on the sheet. When I create a character from scratch using the charactermancer, everything works as expected.  That is, the class entries get put into the sheet and when I click on them, the appropriate text appears.   I know I won't be able to add in class features, and other things that are parts of compendiums that I do not "own" in Roll20 but the basic class, and race features should work.  Is this a bug?  Is there something I need to do to the sheet to fix this?  Or am I not entering the features in correctly when I do it manually?  If I re-create the characters with the charactermancer, will I still be able to add in features, traits, abilities, etc. manually which I would have to do for anything that comes from one of the books that I don't "own"? Thank you.

When the Charactermancer creates your character, it is doing what you would do manually, filling in fields. Once your character has a feature called "Danger Sense" it doesn't matter if you typed it or CM entered it. It has no link to the Compendium. Clicking on the sheet in the manner you describe reports what is on the sheet, not in the Compendium. Also, not everything can be dragged and dropped from the Compendium. In other words, what you are doing sounds correct. You should be able to type in the data for any class or race you want, even ones you do not digitally own, or ones you have homebrewed. Can you give specific reproduction steps for an example that does not work as expected? Particularly with a screen shot of that part of the character sheet? This sounds more like a data entry error than anything else, and can hopefully be cleared up quickly.
Ok, well, um, I could have sworn that I had seen videos where someone (maybe Adam Koebel) was running a game and when characters went up a level, they dragged&dropped abilities from the compendium into the character sheet and everything worked correctly.   It looked like they were using the same character sheet I'm using.  Maybe the sheet changed since the video was made? Also, I did not realize that there was an area where I could enter freeform text.  It's not very clear unless you actually click on the area.  It's just a blank spot on the screen with no boundary or header or anything around it to indicate a text box there.  I found it now that you mentioned that I should be able to enter text when entering the name, source, and other information. So, thanks.

Some items are draggable, some are not. It's best to just experiment on a test character to get the hang of it. Be very careful not to drag an entire character from the Compendium over an open character sheet. You can wind up overwriting a lot of data.
To save on typing, just copy and paste the description from the Compendium since those features don't drag and drop.
