Roll20 + Hangouts not working on Chromium

Hello, I initially thought that I would submit it as a bug report, but as my question pretty much is « the Hangouts app doesn't work at all on this navigator not listed in the Solving Technical Issues wiki page », I'm not sure that it would be in accordance with the rules. But still, this is very weird: I use Chromium on a Debian Sid 64bit machine (the About section of my navigator indicates Version 34.0.1847.116 Debian jessie/sid (260972)), the Roll20 app works perfectly, except when used with Hangouts - the screen is just completely blank. What makes me think that this is weird is that Chrome and Chromium have exactly the same layout engine, the same design, Google Chrome is basically Chromium with Google-ish features (especially since I have added the Chrome PDF reader into my Chromium installation, and since I have Flash installed and working (the Adobe test page returns « You have version 11,2,202,332 installed »)). I have never seen an app work on Google Chrome and not Chromium, so I suspect that there must be a hardcoded browser test (or something else easy to debug). Ironically, supportdetails.com doesn't even seem to see the difference between Chrome and Chromium: Web Browser Chrome 34.0.1847.116 Javascript Enabled Flash Version 11.2.202 So, if you could take a look at what causes this issue, that's be nice for open-source enthusiasts such as myself :-) Best!

Let me move this back into Bug Reports. Very little in Roll20 utilizes Flash and if you're trying to run the application in Google Hangouts, it won't use any Flash at all. The app is wholly dependant on HTML5 and Javascript. Does Chromium have trouble running any other apps in a Hangout?
When we run Roll20 in Google Hangouts it's literally the exact same code just running in an iframe, so any browser checks and the like would be the same between the Hangout and the main site. My guess is it's something on the Hangouts end of things (i.e. Google). As Kristin said, it would be useful to know if any other Hangouts Apps work for you, or if Roll20 is the only problem.

(Wow, two different people from the Roll20 team answering in less than 24h, your reactivity is pretty impressive o_O) I tried the default apps: they worked, except the Youtube one which was displaying a gray screen (so, it looked very much like the bug with the Roll20 app). I googled something about this particular error and found a workaround: Settings → Show advanced settings… → Content settings… → uncheck "Block third-party cookies and site data". It's not a very clean workaround, because I would prefer to block third-party cookies, and have an exception for the Roll20 app. But I don't know what pattern I should allow/disallow (if someone has an idea, I'm interested). Anyway, it works :-) By the way, if I encounter future problems: can I infer from your reaction that it's okay to post bug reports as if I were using Google Chrome?
Glad you figured it out! I would say my reaction was more "Google Hangouts = Roll20 App in an iframe" so if it works on the main site, in theory it should work in Hangouts. You should probably still let us know if it's Chromium just on the off-chance there is a difference between Chromium and Chrome, but I would think that wouldn't come into play very often. Honestly the fact you're on Linux will make a difference than that I would bet, although again everything should in theory work fine.
