Cannot drag to create tokens from the journal in the Curse of Strahd Module

All of the NPCs and Monsters that appear in the Journal when I have the Curse of Strahd module loaded cannot be dragged into the play area. This can be done for characters that I've created however not for those I haven't. For some I can open the bio and click and drag the token in from there, but not for all and it is very frustrating as I cannot move them into maps when I need to. I am dragging from the name and not from the icon. For the most part this isn't too bad as most of the maps are already populated, but this would be handy for random encounters. Also the Castle maps I am using are not pre-populated.
It also seems like I cannot drag and drop any monsters from the compendium onto the tabletop. Is there a setting or something that I am missing that I need to activate?
Hi Again. It seems like I've found something that may help. There are a few monsters that I can drag onto the table top, and they have default tokens. The ones I cannot drag do not have default tokens enabled. However, this is purchased content, why do some have tokens and some do not? Do I need to manually create all of the tokens for these monsters myself?
OK. So, looking at other threads, all of the monsters in the compendium that have matching entries already in the journal because they came prepopulated cannot be dragged in. Almost all monsters and NPCs in the journal have no default tokens assigned. Or have just a blank token with no stats etc. Can this be fixed, or is there a quick way to rectify this? Thank you.
I've worked out that it's because each character's default token field is filled with a blank token. Not no token, some form of null token, so it doesn't get placed. Fortunately, I have a solution, but it is a bit of work. Most of the entries in the journal have a token already placed on one of the various maps. So I went through each map (page), selected a placed token, searched for its counter part in the journal, opened, clicked edit, removed the blank default token and then clicked on use selected token. Then clicked save as. This has fixed the issue for me for all placed the tokens that I could find, which is most of them. However, monsters and NPCs that exist only in Castle Ravenloft don't appear to be placed anywhere. Strahd is ok because you can spawn his token from the rollable tokens section in the collection tab, then do the same as above. For monsters that also appear in the compendium you can delete their entry in the journal then it will allow you to drag the compendium version in, which will place a character for it at the top of the journal. I may have to work out a more manual process for unique NPCs and monsters that can't be fixed by any of the above methods, such as Rahadin.
Ok, I've worked out more. I've been using the Castle Ravenloft map pack add-on. I created a new game without the add-on, and the token problem did not appear. Each monster and NPC in the journal drags into the play area fine. I exited the game, and added the Ravenloft add-on, and re-launched the game. The problem now appears. It has something to do with the add-on.

Do you have both the module and the map pack? The module contains the maps, so you shouldn't need to purchase the map pack. If you purchased only the map pack, it doesn't come with tokens. If you have indeed purchased both and wish to change this, you should write to team@roll20.net and explain your situation. Be patient, they are run pretty ragged right now.
I can imagine! Thanks for getting back to me again. Oh wow! It does too. I thought the addon was required to get the top down maps. Oh well. At least that solves my problem and prevents a whole lot of work. Thanks for your help. The refund isn't super important, but I will look into it. Thanks again!
