[LFP][5e][PAID] DM looking for players for Waterdeep: Dragon Heist - Saturdays 3-6pmEDT

This game will require payment to the Game Master at a rate of $6 USD per player per session via Paypal, at least one day prior to each session. Session Zero will be free. Roll20 is not responsible for any payment transactions and cannot enforce any private arrangements. I am a DM looking for four to six players for an expanded run of Waterdeep: Dragon Heist, Saturdays from 3-6PM EDT. Check out the LFG listing here About Me: My name is Josh. I have ten years of DM experience overall, and I've spent the last five years on a long-form D&D3.5 campaign, plus various one-shots, adventures, and modules sprinkled throughout. Most of my time has been spent in D&D 3.5, but I also have plenty of experience with D&D 5e and Pathfinder. I have worked with both newcomers and veterans, and have helped a good many new players figure out and become comfortable with the rules. I emphasize the group storytelling aspect of tabletop: I'm here to help the party tell their story, and look good while they do it. The Campaign: This will be a campaign that generally follows the main story beats of the Waterdeep: Dragon Heist adventure module, which I have run before. There will be expansions, additions, and improvisations to exactly how it goes, to better suit group interests. So what is Waterdeep: Dragon Heist? From the official roll20 blurb for the book: WELCOME TO WATERDEEP! A fantastic treasure trove is yours for the taking in this adventure for the world's greatest roleplaying game. Famed explorer Volothamp Geddarm needs you to complete a simple quest. Thus begins a mad romp through the wards of Waterdeep as you uncover a villainous plot involving some of the city’s most influential figures. A grand urban caper awaits you. Pit your skill and bravado against villains the likes of which you’ve never faced before, and let the dragon hunt begin! Schedule: We will meet once per week, Saturday from 3-6PM EDT (7-10UTC). Sessions will be three hours long, likely with a five minute break in the middle of each. I expect this will last for 6 months to a year. We will begin with a free “session zero” to get acquainted with one another, discuss character and story ideas, and otherwise prepare for the campaign. Rules and Expectations: We will be using Discord for voice communication. I may sometimes use video, but that will NOT be expected of the players. Be decent. This campaign will be LGBT+ friendly. There will be zero tolerance for sexism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, racism, and other forms of bigotry. Players of any level of experience are welcome. Whether you've been playing since AD&D or this is your first foray into tabletop, you are welcome to join this campaign. Just be ready and able to invest yourself and try. I will accommodate for newer or less-experienced players, to help get them caught up. No homebrew content will be allowed for character creation. All official WotC content will be allowed. This includes Unearthed Arcana content, with the caveat: all UA content must be checked with the DM ahead of time. Engage. Tell me, or the group, what you as a player and as a character want out of this campaign and world. Help us all, as a group, to tell a meaningful story. Regular attendance will be expected. I respect that sometimes life happens, especially in the current global pandemic situation. Sometimes sessions will be missed. This is okay. However, this is a paid group activity wherein your presence or absence will affect the dynamic, so I ask that you do your best to attend every session, and let us know as far in advance of an absence as you can. If you have paid for a session that you miss, your payment can either be applied to the next session or refunded to you, your choice. Application: If you are interested, please fill out the following either via roll20 private message or as a reply in this thread. Name: Pronouns: Age or Age Category: D&D and Roleplaying Experience: (how much have you played of what versions, are you part of an improv troupe, etc) Preferences and Triggers: (The goal here is for everyone to be comfortable and have fun. This helps me be better aware of topics to avoid and plan around to ensure that goal is achieved) What interests you about playing tabletop RPGs: (rolling big numbers on damage dice, tactical combat, roleplaying with other players, meeting weird and interesting NPCs, etc) EDIT: Out of consideration for the ongoing covid-19 worldwide shenanigan, I've reduced the price per session to $6USD. We're all doing our best, and I don't need enough money from this, I just need some .

Name: Andrew Pronouns: He/Him Age or Age Category: 30 D&D and Roleplaying Experience: I have been playing DnD on and off for the past 5 years or so, basically not too long after 5E came out. So I am very familiar with the rules and material of 5E. When it comes to roleplaying, I am still a beginner, as in I don't act like my character too much more like describe what they are doing. But roleplaying is a lot of fun and I definitely want it in a campaign. Preferences and Triggers: I am an open minded and very easy going person and I don't personally have any "triggers" of any kind. Most things don't phase me in a negative way. I prefer for people just to be humans and be kind to each other and have fun while playing the the best tabletop RPG :) What interests you about playing tabletop RPGs: The biggest thing for me is being able to create a story that can be remembered and shared for years to come. Another aspect is the character creation process and how you can really create whatever character you can think of (with the games rules of course). I love the fantasy genre as a whole, especially high fantasy just because the story telling potential is virtually limitless. I'm also a comic book and video game geek so that's probably another reason lol.
Name: Bart Pronouns: He/Him Age: 51 D and D and RP experience: i played way back in high school with the basic set. Keep on the Borderlands anyone? I have recently been playing 5e for about a year. It was playing face to face. I have started on-line play about a month ago. Preference and Triggers: none really except for when people meta game or act like jerks as a player. Not as a character, but as a player. I think we all should be enjoying our time playing and that includes basic respect and kindness. What interests me: i like seeing how people flesh out their characters and i often find myself laughing at the predicaments a party finds itself in. I like meeting people and characters with different back grounds, ideals etc.
Name: Jonny Pronouns: He/Him Age or Age Category: 33 D&D and Roleplaying Experience: I understand the concept of RPG. Have played on physical board as an adolescent. Brand new to Virtual DND and Roll20 Preferences and Triggers: Linear game with an overall goal? What interests you about playing tabletop RPGs: The dungeons. I very much liked the uncertainty of the board, and each choice (directional movement) and its rewards/traps. The challenging aspects of it. The teamwork. Unique classes that each provide to the group in their own particular way.
Name: Min Pronouns: She, her Age or Age Category: 26 D&D and Roleplaying Experience: I love to roleplay! I've played a lot as a teen 3.5e with my dad as the DM and my brothers and I as PCs. I have been playing recently 5e for a few months and as a middle school teacher, I'm good at putting on a performance per se, so roleplaying comes naturally. Preferences and Triggers: I'm patient with questions and new players, but I like an emersive experience where everyone is attempting to roleplay and move through the encounters as fluidly as possible. What interests you about playing tabletop RPGs: I love the way you can create your own story and dynamically affect the world in the game. Coming together with new people and making new friends through team building and adventure!
Name: Matti Pronouns: They/Them Age or Age Category: 20 D&D and Roleplaying Experience: absolutely none, I'm completely new to d and d. I've attempted to learn before so I have some bits of knowledge here and there but I could never find any groups near me. Preferences and Triggers: I'm uncomfortable roleplaying scenes that include things like suicide or self harm, also sexual assault/rape. I don't really have another preferences since I don't have any experience yet. What interests you about playing tabletop RPGs: i'm interestd in being able to build stories and characters together, and how stories can grow. also the ability to meet new people. people.

Name: Will Pronouns: He/him Age or Age Category: late 20s D&D and Roleplaying Experience: Been playing DnD on and off (mostly off) since 4e new to Roll20 though, with a bit of Pathfinder & Cyberpunk 2020 thrown in for good measure Preferences and Triggers: Just want a fun campaign with a a bit of banter and a bunch of laughs with a good amount of recon and planning out of scenarios. Love pretty much all of D&D The Crunch the Fluff all of it, specially when everyone can loosen up and specially when the party starts to mesh together and have a good back and forth in Social interactions Combat and Exploration. For triggers, I guess when players fight outside of character, I wont take part in that I don't abide with that. In game I guess I don't like players arguing against rulings, (mechanics fine but not rulings) big believer in rule Zero. I don't have IRL triggers, but I want/will be respectful of everyone else's, boundaries should be respected. What interests you about playing tabletop RPGs: Big believer of the three pillars of D&D, liking a mix of all three: Combat, Social Interaction & Exploration. However Exploration of the world and campaign and all it has to offer is normally what I lean towards, however recently I ran some heist scenarios in a Ravnica setting for some IRL friends and we had a blast, I've been super interested in being on the other side (none of my IRL friends enjoy DMing) and playing that style and dragon Heist seems to be perfect for that. I've not read anything really about the campaign as Its something that really interests me as a player.
Name: Will Pronouns:He Age or Age Category: 30/m/nj D&D and Roleplaying Experience: DND 5E for about 3 years now. I've been DMing the last 2 years so haven't had much time to play as a PC Preferences and Triggers: Some Triggers are players who wanna do everything or wont let others get in a word edge wise. What interests you about playing tabletop RPGs: I'm gonna use your examples for my interests....rolling big numbers on damage dice, tactical combat, roleplaying with other players, meeting weird and interesting NPCs, etc
Thank you all for your expressed interest. I'm following up with everyone now, so look for PMs from me. There was a response, I think either here or the LFG listing at https://app.roll20.net/forum/post/8404433/hello from a Lauren, who I have since misplaced, but if you're still interested I'd like to follow up with you, too, Lauren Who I Have Misplaced.
Due to the loss of a player to their schedule shifting, we are currently looking for one more. We are two sessions in, with the party having just arrived at 2nd level. See the first post for campaign and application information. Found someone, thanks!
Name: Robert Pronouns: he/him Age or Age Category: 36 D&D and Roleplaying Experience: I've been playing for just over a year, including DMing a couple campaigns! I'm pretty well familiar with 5e at this point as well as Roll20. Preferences and Triggers: Can't really think of any triggers for myself here, but I'm always looking out for others and want to make sure everyone is comfortable and having a fun time. What interests you about playing tabletop RPGs: I love crafting interesting characters and developing interesting dynamics with my fellow party members, as well as coming up with clever solutions to things. Mostly I like having memorable moments, whether that is a thrilling battle or an entire session spent having conversations with the party. I hope you consider me for the game, thank you!
Name: Justin Pronouns: He/Him - Thank you for asking Age or Age Category: Late 30s D&D and Roleplaying Experience: I have been playing 5e since it was DnD Next and have been playing D&D a fair bit longer than that. Preferences and Triggers: I think you hit the nail on the head. I want to be accepted and be accepting. What interests you about playing tabletop RPGs: Heroics. Even if they are on a small scale. Such as, sure you could have just taken the child to the guard post and left it there, but no, after dropping the child off you ran off into the dark alleyways and unsavory neighborhoods looking for the child's father and you were able to rescue him from some bandits that held him captive. You were that child's hero. The journey is also important. I love that feeling of unraveling the story and watching pieces fall into place. And, lastly, I do enjoy creative combat. I have a bit of a wargamer background so i love grids and weighing options of what is the best course, and more importantly, what course would my character take.
Not sure if your still looking for players, but if so I would be interested. Name: Tom Pronouns: He/him Age or Age Category: 51 D&D and Roleplaying Experience: I played in the 80' then again in the 90's when AD&D 2nd ed. came out then not till just before 5th ed. and been playing 5th since. The group still plays but since we have all moved around we play on Roll20 now for the last few years. I'm no expert but I try. Preferences and Triggers: Pref - a group that has fun and doesn't take things way to serious it is a game - Rules Lawyers not my favorite type of player. no triggers. What interests you about playing tabletop RPGs: Having fun, escaping reality for a few hours. I like both RP and crawls, I'm not the best RP in the world but I try.
Name: Jeff Pronouns: He/Him Age or Age Category:35 D&D and Roleplaying Experience: I started with AD&D and had a long gap in my tabletop experience until a year ago when I returned to the format with 5e. Just finished a Starfinder campaign and am looking to switch gears. No real acting or stage improv experience, but I do boast a quick wit and tend to immerse myself in the role of my character. Preferences and Triggers: I prefer a focused game that emphasizes balance and cooperation so long as it never interferes with having fun while playing. I like a mixture of roleplay, exploration and combat. I don't have any notable triggers though I have no patience for intolerance. Particularly when it comes to those of us who fly a prismatic banner. What interests you about playing tabletop RPGs: everything. The creative problem solving woven together in a mesh of cooperative social interaction is probably the highlight for me. Battle strategy. Character development(not just creation)... I think I made my point. Really need a good role play group in my life so I hope to hear back. :)
