[5e][LFG][25+] [Free] Need 1-2 players to join an active campaign. Fridays 7-11 EDT. Would prefer experienced players.

I'm looking for a couple of players to fill in some spots in a long-term homebrew campaign I'm DM'ing. We play on Friday nights and have a trio of solid players, but can't keep a 4th or 5th for longer than 1-2 sessions. I think its a fairly balanced campaign thus far, with typical high fantasy themes. While I enjoy having 1-2 combat encounters per session, I'm also enjoying the roleplay aspects that my players bring and that they bring out of me. I'm always open to adjusting the game a bit based on player feedback so the more I know about what you are looking for, the more likely you will be satisfied with the campaign. This campaign is homebrew and built on the fly, so there is lots of room for you to build out your character's backstory, and drive the campaign towards things you'd like your character to do. If you are free on Friday nights and would like to join a long-term campaign with a level 5 character, please fill out the following (Bolded responses are my own, placed as examples) and either reply or send me a Direct message. Feel free to include any questions as well.  Name (whatever you'd like to be called while out of character): Taylor Age: 34 RPG experience, including any experience as a GM: Solely 5e, started playing weekly 3+ years ago. have mostly DM'ed the last 2 years. Always homebrewed If you had 100 points total to allocate to the following, how would your ideal game be balanced? (example given) Exploration:  25 Roleplay:  30 Combat:   45 What else do you like about D&D or RPG's? Coming up with a fantastic plan that always gets spoiled. Meeting people who enjoy similar things Are you able to attend sessions on Friday nights with frequent regularity? Yep, occasionally have to call a session on my account, but not often. If you do need to miss a session, are you able to give reasonable notice? Also yes. What aspects of D&D/Roll20 are your strong suits? Roll20-   Have started fleshing out journals pretty substantially, utilizing some API's that enhance things. D&D- roleplaying situations that I have expected, tying player characters to a narrative, Providing roleplay, combat, and exploration opportunities that are cohesive and related to a larger story. What aspects of your D&D/Roll20 game could use some improving? Roll20- remembering the damn jukebox, lol. making maps/ adjustments to maps  on the fly. General file organization. D&D-fleshing out knowledge of lore, utilizing DM tools that already exist in the DMG (loot tables, random encounters, poisons, siege weapons, optional rules, etc...) If you have a character concept, feel free to list it out here.

Name (whatever you'd like to be called while out of character): Michael Age:  22 RPG experience, including any experience as a GM: 8ish years of on and off table top roleplay (not weekly). Mostly Pathfinder. Played all the way through Kingmaker as a Druid. Briefly played Carrion Crown and Skulls and Shackles, and some other Homebrews. I have some GMing experience in pathfinder.  I'm also playing in a homebrew 5e game. If you had 100 points total to allocate to the following, how would your ideal game be balanced? (example given) Exploration:  26 Roleplay: 37 Combat:   37 What else do you like about D&D or RPG's?  Trying out new spells and abilities when I level up. Building relationships with NPCs. Making convoluted plans but occasionally just skipping that step and running right into an encounter. Are you able to attend sessions on Friday nights with frequent regularity?  Yes, although it would be running a little late for me (PST), but i can handle that, I've been staying up late recently If you do need to miss a session, are you able to give reasonable notice?  Yes What aspects of D&D/Roll20 are your strong suits?  Have never played on Roll20. I'm a quick learner of applications and tools so Im not super worried about being new to Roll20 (although please be patient for a little bit). I believe I can explain whatever my character's  game mechanics are in a clear manner. I will interact with the world the NPCs in a fun manner.  What aspects of your D&D/Roll20 game could use some improving?  I need to learn how to use Roll20. I need to work on building my character's unique personalities and motivations. I always have trouble with that but I'm working on it. If you have a character concept, feel free to list it out here. I'm newish to 5e, so whenever I read about a cool build I think thats what's my character is going to be, but since i'm rather new most builds are new to me, so I might have trouble choosing. Currently I'm liking a grappler build of some kind, or perhaps a hexblade. However, I am open to a lot of things if particular roles need to be filled. Btw I will probably try to optimize my builds unless you tell me not to.

Name (whatever you'd like to be called while out of character): Auzzy or Australia, Australia is my first name. Age:  24 RPG experience, including any experience as a GM:  Only about a year of experience with DND 5E, but I've been playing at least twice a week over a year. Could say I'm currently very thrilled about the game. However, I've been roleplaying for 10+ years. If you had 100 points total to allocate to the following, how would your ideal game be balanced? (example given) Exploration:  30 Roleplay: 50 Combat:   20 What else do you like about D&D or RPG's?  Getting in the mind of a character and truly integrating with the world that the DM gives me, also interacting with the other characters. As well as, creating fun and memorable experiences that everyone can enjoy. Are you able to attend sessions on Friday nights with frequent regularity?  Definitely. If you do need to miss a session, are you able to give reasonable notice?  Of course. What aspects of D&D/Roll20 are your strong suits?  I've used Roll20 often so I am very familiar with it, just a few minor things in the options tab of character sheets that I've yet to explore. My strongest suit is embracing my character to avoid obnoxious forms of meta gaming and remembering exactly who my character is. My other strong suit is bringing other players into the story to allow everyone to enjoy it, and not being a selfish player. As well as being open to whatever the DM gives me, like if my character is a bit too strong or has too many strong features I've always been open to handicapping my character in very interesting ways. I enjoy it. What aspects of your D&D/Roll20 game could use some improving?  I do tend to go overboard in character creation, and even tend to overcommit to my characters. I've once brought a very lengthy backstory for my first character and just threw it on the DM like "deal with it". In my most recent campaign, I've actually worked with my DM about my character before session 0 which allowed us to brainstorm multiple things that could be integrated into the game and I can see that these integrations have made our campaign more fun. Another thing that I can see myself needing improvement on, is I've found myself sometimes becoming very impatient for progression in the story but I'm not sure if it was a combination of the session actually being slow or if I was genuinely being impatient. If you have a character concept, feel free to list it out here.  If changelings are allowed I'd like to make a changeling character that pretends to be a child elf. I'm mainly just looking to play a warlock But not the basic damage dealer, one that looks to do some damage but bring a lot of utility to support the others while also being an "evil" character.
Name (whatever you'd like to be called while out of character):Ben Age:  25 RPG experience, including any experience as a GM:  Some 3.5 vast majority 5e i've been playing for about 10 years or so but mostly just DMing the past 4 years. Excited to be a player again now that i have time on my hands If you had 100 points total to allocate to the following, how would your ideal game be balanced? (example given) Exploration:  15 Roleplay: 25 Combat:   60 What else do you like about D&D or RPG's? There are alot of facets to RPGs but my favorite is the story telling. Epic moments and then segments of levity all creates i really cool dynamic that is hard to capture outside of tabletops. Are you able to attend sessions on Friday nights with frequent regularity?  Schedule is wide open If you do need to miss a session, are you able to give reasonable notice? ofcourse What aspects of D&D/Roll20 are your strong suits?  Wealth of 5e knowledge and world building experience i have finished 2 long homebrew campaigns one 6 months and the other 4 years.  What aspects of your D&D/Roll20 game could use some improving?  Roll20- i have only used this application sparingly  as an assistance for long term players when they couldn't make it to a session so im still learning there. D&D- so much lore im always learning this or that and finding ways to use things in my campaigns to make the world feel more alive If you have a character concept, feel free to list it out here.  Very flexible with a character concept i think diverse parties are more fun. but right out the gate for a 5th lv character Human Rogue 3/Pali 2 who is a reformed criminal  whom after some time imprisoned  was offered his freedom in exchange  for helping to repel an incoming force. He now lives as a traveling adventurer attempting  to redem himself from his life of crime

I like that im able to affect the world around the character and some choices even matter sometimes Are you able to attend sessions on Friday nights with frequent regularity? Yep If you do need to miss a session, are you able to give reasonable notice? yes. What aspects of D&D/Roll20 are your strong suits? PC; can be a leader or a clown to anything depends on waht i roll and what the party already has. i like filling in the cracks of parties essentially if they hae started What aspects of your D&D/Roll20 game could use some improving? DMing could use work, havent played as one yet. and i could use more caution in certain situations with questionable origins (i like playing chaotic neutral)
Name (whatever you'd like to be called while out of character): Armando Age:  25 RPG experience, including any experience as a GM:  Been into RPGs pretty much my entire life be it video games or tabletop, I played some GURPS back in the day and got into dnd 5E about 2 years ago. No experience as a GM so far If you had 100 points total to allocate to the following, how would your ideal game be balanced?  Exploration:  30 Roleplay:  30 Combat:   40 What else do you like about D&D or RPG's?  I like all the things that can happen during an adventure, be it some random encounter with a mythical beast that needs to be rescued or stumbling across a mysterious town where everyone's a centaur Are you able to attend sessions on Friday nights with frequent regularity? Yes If you do need to miss a session, are you able to give reasonable notice?  Yes What aspects of D&D/Roll20 are your strong suits?  I can take charge when necessary  or be the voice of reason when it comes to a heated encounter, also not bad in a fight. What aspects of your D&D/Roll20 game could use some improving?  Kind of gray when it comes to moral things, I don't like having to make a major decision that can potentially have drastic effects, but I will if no one else can and I won't hesitate. Also I could use some work when it comes to my rp, it's not bad but not as good as it could be. If you have a character concept, feel free to list it out here.  Order of the Lycan Blood Hunter Archaeologist background, kind of like Indiana Jones if he was bitten during an adventure He's up in his years but refuses to retire because adventure always calls to him
Name (whatever you'd like to be called while out of character):  Jon Age:  29 RPG experience, including any experience as a GM:  5e for the last 2 1/2 years, smattering of other tabletops since I was about 13  If you had 100 points total to allocate to the following, how would your ideal game be balanced? (example given) Exploration:  10 Roleplay: 35 Combat:   55 What else do you like about D&D or RPG's?  Coming up with new strategies or combinations of spells that are unique, unexpected outcomes due to crazy dice rolls. Are you able to attend sessions on Friday nights with frequent regularity?  Yep.  Emergencies happen, but I'm reliable. If you do need to miss a session, are you able to give reasonable notice?  Of course, outside of the aforementioned emergencies. What aspects of D&D/Roll20 are your strong suits?  Roll20-   I can use the interface well, don't really know the DM side of things. D&D- Adaptability.  I can come up with some pretty creative answers to situations fairly quickly.  In addition, I don't have a "favorite class" and am willing to play whatever character the party needs, though I am more than capable of coming up with my own ideas in a vacuum. What aspects of your D&D/Roll20 game could use some improving?  Roll20- not accidentally linking things in the chat!  I click around a lot and tend to accidentally roll dice because I was looking at the character sheet. D&D-lore is kinda tough on me, since it often overlaps and also sometimes goes against the different fantasy book series worlds I have in my head.   If you have a character concept, feel free to list it out here.  My current big 3 ideas are:  A Hexblade, pact of the blade warlock that is obsessed with weapons of all kinds, even making a weapon his patron. I usually try to flavor it as Excalibur as his patron because I am not a big fan of playing "evil" characters. An Oath of Vengeance paladin who wants to destroy the gods of the Nine Hells.  He'll settle for killing everyone who serves them, even remotely, for now, but his ultimate goal is to plunge a broken dagger he carries (maybe flavored as his holy symbol?) into each gods' heart.  The dagger belonging to the man who trained him, killed by a member of demon cult wielding insane power. A Warforged Forge Cleric who desperately wants to make a weapon worthy of the notice of his god, Gond.  He views his existence as a miracle from Gond and wants to make those who would sully weapons with evil pay for their great sin (in his eyes at least).  His mission in life is to find the fabled Hammer of Gond, a massive blacksmith's hammer (more a greathammer/maul than anything) that he is convinced will help him achieve his goal.  Along the way, he makes things, constantly tinkering to improve both his own functions and to keep his skills sharp.   With all of my ideas, I am flexible.  I can adapt or come up with more ideas.  I realize all 3 of these are more martial than caster, but I am just as capable of playing the caster!
Name (whatever you'd like to be called while out of character):  Softly Age:  36 RPG experience, including any experience as a GM:  Mostly 5e, also dabbled with Dragon Age.  Most recent I DM'ed a weekly campaign for about a year that took place in the world inspired by the Mistborn series. If you had 100 points total to allocate to the following, how would your ideal game be balanced? (example given) Exploration:  25 Roleplay:  40 Combat:   35 What else do you like about D&D or RPG's?  The amazing worlds and interactions that come from story telling Are you able to attend sessions on Friday nights with frequent regularity?  Yes, Friday nights work perfect for my schedule If you do need to miss a session, are you able to give reasonable notice?  yes. What aspects of D&D/Roll20 are your strong suits?  I have a decent understanding of the rules system, and I stay engaged with the story What aspects of your D&D/Roll20 game could use some improving?  I've never really had a lot of time as a PC,  so in a way I feel inexperienced  in that aspect
Name (whatever you'd like to be called while out of character):  Rich Age:  31 RPG experience, including any experience as a GM:  A couple of years experience with solely 5e. I started with Curse of Strahd followed by Waterdeep Dragon Heist, both as a player, and have DM'd Lost Mine of Phandelver for my wife and twin boys. If you had 100 points total to allocate to the following, how would your ideal game be balanced? (example given) Exploration:  30 Roleplay: 40 Combat:   30 What else do you like about D&D or RPG's?  I enjoy the versatility of role play and the opportunity to solve problems any number of ways. I love that the Forgotten Realms has served as the default setting for most official modules since it has an incredibly dense continuity to delve into. Are you able to attend sessions on Friday nights with frequent regularity?  Yes. If you do need to miss a session, are you able to give reasonable notice?  Yes. What aspects of D&D/Roll20 are your strong suits?   Good player etiquette. I don't pick a day/time to play where my attention will be divided and am punctual. I am involved with my role playing but I don't overshadow others. What aspects of your D&D/Roll20 game could use some improving?  I am relatively new to Roll20. I have played almost all my sessions in person but the pandemic has forced me to explore other options. I am currently involved with another online game via Roll20 so I am confident that my basics are covered. If you have a character concept, feel free to list it out here.  An orphaned Dwarf raised by human monks in the Way of the Sun Soul produced a fighting virtuoso who would dedicate the centuries of his life to mastering the art. His commitment to hygiene and abstinence has earned him the respect of his fellow monks and, much to his chagrin, the contempt of his fellow Dwarves.

Name: Matt Age: 33 RPG experience, including any experience as a GM: About 7 years of D&D of various editions. Started thanks to Roll20 with 4E, then tried Pathfinder, before moving to 5E and rarely looking back. I've run a few one-shots and relatively short homebrew campaigns in 5E, the longest of which lasted 3 months. Also have experience with non-d20 systems, mostly Cortex, FATE and various Powered by the Apocalypse systems like Monster of the Week, Dungeon World and Masks, though outside of D&D I've only GMed Monster of the Week. If you had 100 points total to allocate to the following, how would your ideal game be balanced? Exploration:  35 Roleplay:  35 Combat:   30 What else do you like about D&D or RPG's? How ridiculously off the rails things can go once the dice start flying. The social aspect is also big draw for me as well, making new friends and getting to enjoy the party banter, both in-character and out-of-character. Are you able to attend sessions on Friday nights with frequent regularity? Yep! I was already a bit of a hermit before the pandemic, it's not like I have anywhere else to be right now. If you do need to miss a session, are you able to give reasonable notice? Barring my complete incapacitation, I'll try to give fair warning If I can't make it, and apologize profusely if I can't. What aspects of D&D/Roll20 are your strong suits? A role that I frequently played in one of my old groups was that of fill. I'm perfectly okay with making characters that round out a party composition, or otherwise making a character that can fill a niche that isn't necessarily being handled. I'm also pretty good at remembering rules, or even looking them up on the fly when people need something clarified. Though it can get a bit old when you constantly have to remind the sorcerer that quicken spell does not in fact let him cast two spells per turn. What aspects of your D&D/Roll20 game could use some improving? I could stand to be a bit more decisive in combat, especially when playing a full caster at higher levels. I rarely get to do so and sometimes have a hard time deciding on what to do in a given round of combat when I have too many options at my disposal. If you have a character concept, feel free to list it out here.  Actually, I have too many to list, and generally would rather wait to be accepted to a group before actually putting to much effort into developing one too far lest I get too emotionally attached and then not get into the game or even just it basically turn out to be the same character as someone else with a slightly different backstory. PS: In the interest of full disclosure, I have satellite internet where I live currently and it can sometimes make me cut out while talking over voice chat due to latency spikes. I'm okay with resorting to text when it gets bad, but I understand if you'd rather not deal with that at all.
