Full disclosure - I am by no means ready to run this campaign, however if there is interest I wouldn't mind running this. A bit of background, I once ran a campaign based on this idea at a game shop in person, but it fell apart just as things started really getting interesting (someone moved, another had a school schedule change, then there was one who got a new job - you know how it goes.) In addition, I'm not sure what system I want to use for this. I own quite a few of the Star Trek rpg books, but it's a system I'm not a huge fan of. I tend to lean towards FATE as my system of choice as it allows the largest flexibility, but it can be harder for some people to wrap their heads around. All that being said, when I ran this game it was super popular at the shop,it was a stupid amount of fun and I'd like to do it again sometime. Here's the campaign idea. All the players are cadets at Starfleet Academy. You essentially start with almost no skills, because, well you're a brand spankin' new recruit that's why. Then we have a series of adventures as you go through the Academy - say one for each semester, two semesters a year, and then 4 years of the Academy. Plus an "Orientation" adventure and a "graduation" adventure. Gives you a total of 10. You choose what field your character will be in, engineering for example. Each semester you say what classes your character is taking, and there will be a list of things you have to take, for example you have to a physical ed class of some sort at least every other semester or something. The classes can be whatever you think makes sense for your character - I'm waaaaaaaaaaaay to lazy to come up with a list of every possible class, and besides that would hamper the creativity of the players. At the end of each adventure you can learn a new skill or improve a existing one. The catch? Each skill you take or improve must be a skill you used in the adventure or one that you can reasonably claim you learned in a class taken that semester. After you graduate the real fun begins - you get assigned as a crew together somewhere. I'm wondering if there are any players who would be interested in such a campaign during the week. If there are, I'll start a campaign and begin inviting people and we can go from there.
