Stupid Question From New GM: Do my players see my attack and damage rolls?

Do my players see my attack and damage rolls when using 5e npc character sheet attacks? I have some new players coming in and if for instance, they would have died or taken a ton of damage, I might fudge that as to not ruin things for them and I don't want them to know. -Thanks!

It depends on how you have your sheets set up. Assuming you're using the 5e by Roll20 sheet, Roll20 chose to have the default be public rolls. If you go to your game settings page, you can change this default, and you can apply the new default to all characters (make sure to change it back for your pcs). You can tell if a chat message (roll, text, whatever) was whispered or public based on the background color of the message as shown below: Top: a whispered message From an npc I was running. Whispered messages will ALWAYS have that yellowish background whether you are sending them or receiving them. Middle: A public message I sent. The blue background denotes a message that you sent. Bottom: A public message from someone else. These always display with a grey background Note that certain slash commands like /desc, /em, and /emas will change the display for public messages.

Also, a whispered message will surround the entirety of the sender's name in parentheses (not just the "(GM)" title).
Thank you everyone, this was very helpful!
