I reported this same issue last year after I'd purchased some animated weather effects. I chatted with the artist about this and he said it was an issue with Roll20 and that only Roll20 had these issues with transparency (he offered me a refund and I declined). - Again, that was a year ago and now I see the same thing happening with an animated token from a different artist -- so this issue has been around for some time now and nothing has been done to fix it. Reloading Roll20 resets the transparency but eventually the transparency turns black and the token becomes artwork on a black box -- exactly the same as the weather effects. Firefox works fine, as it did with the animated weather layer. -- But my players prefer Chrome and I don't dictate which browser they should use. This should work consistently on all major browsers -- especially the foremost browser. It's been a year. TY Update: I did a test on the maps layer and the token transparency still becomes opaque. There's also a visual "jerk" when the animation starts its animation loop. -- A similar test with a campfire token does not have this issue. The campfire continues to loop and there's no change in transparency.  -- But again, this is not an issue at all in Firefox. And as per my discussion with the artist last year, this is not an issue in other competing platforms.
