when the DM changes his point of view from one of the players back to his view they are turning black. all the player can see is their token on a black screen
This sounds like Regular Fog of War has been activated, but no areas have been specifically cleared. The default is to have the entire map obscured. It could be a Dynamic Lighting issue, but it's hard to tell from the amount of info given.
