Trying to Find a Group

Trying to find a group to play with on here seems to be even more difficult than finding a group in person. Not sure it's even worthwhile to keep looking
Just wanna give you a heads up, your post kinda screams negativity and will probably get you passed over if someone looking for players happens to check this thread. Might want to consider rewording it a little.
I get what you mean. Thing is, I have never successfully found an online group on here unless it was with someone I already know. It honestly doesn't seem like there are any groups available for people with limited availability. I tried applying for several one-shot games, but the only one who ever got back to me did so an hour after the game was supposed to have started, and I had already logged off. I've very disillusioned with this site as it seems that the only way to play is to pay to play.
Yeah, I get it. Limited availability was a major issue for me too until I got quarantined. And the pay to play thing is absolutely a problem, in my opinion. I've seen people wanting like $20 a session at the high end of things. Personally I just do it for fun. :/
All I want to do is play some D&D and honestly, it seems like it's just not going to happen any time soon. If I can't find a game on a 4 day weekend, it's not likely going to happen.

I wish I could offer you some words of happiness but I'm not actively gaming for now (due to burn out) but if you have limited availability for voice games, think about text based gaming. Those generally have the ability to be looser in their time restrictions, depending on the type of text style being played.

It takes around three months to put a good group together. This is not exclusive to online play either, its in real life too. Bottom line, be patient and you might actually find a good group that gels together. Alex said: I get what you mean. Soooooo many morons out there. The worst is the guy who says he has experience and begs for a busted ass homebrewed character then asks you, the gm how to run it.  Greyhawk DM said: It takes around three months to put a good group together. Un fortunately 3 months is more time than I have to devote to looking for a game. I'm 36 with a job as a bus driver (which means a rotating day off schedule), a wife at home who also needs a healthy chunk of my time, and multiple terminally ill family members. On top of that, the only day off I consistently have is every 2nd Sunday, our day off groups can change up to 4 times a year, so by the time I find a game my schedule could be completely different. I personally don't think calling people "whako's", "retards" and "morons" is good practice of GM's. Edit: It shows alot about a GM how they refer to there players and how they treat them, sometimes its not the player fault. Like some GM's think.

Just join a 5 dollar game. I know pay to play is looked down on but people paying does insentivise the dm and players to.commit a lot of people even do free first sessions
I notice you spoke about limited availability... Why don't you try posting [LFG] and the specific time you can play? You may find others with similar availability by being clear and direct from the start.

The reason it is often difficult to find a game is because there's a bunch of demand for DM/GM's, but not as many willing and capable people to run games. Personally, when I can't seem to find a group, I find the best option is to simply pick up the DM/GM slot and run a game. Within a short period of time (often less than a day), you can end up with a full table. Inevitably, you'll be invited to play in someone else's game.

Not sure it's even worthwhile to keep looking And yet, when I go to your profile I don't see any topics from you looking for a group (besides this one) or any replies to threads from you... If you're truely looking for something you have to put in a little effort yourself as well.
What I find weird is what OP said about issues with finding games. I just went through LFG forums only to find no less than 5 games that were ok with taking any level of experience and plenty of different time zones. And no I was not counting Paid games, since 95% of those are absolute garbage. Not to mention if you have issues with time, did you ever considered trying Play by post style of game? This one is lot less time demanding.

I agree about the time demand for that type of gaming format. I have the LFG link in my profile for a Roll20 text community that is specialized in helping text based gamers.

I don't think it does, I have literally ran into psychopaths on here. I am very welcoming to anyone I game for to a point, and that point is when it drags the game down to a halt. Case in point I threw together a session of Forge of Fury for the poster of this thread and 3 others I found online and other than internet issues with ME (bad storms yesterday evening down here) it went fine, everyone had fun and life went on.  But your smarmy holier than thou 'it says a lot about a GM' can go pound sand. Ive had people keep an open mic on voice and pass gas endlessly an entire session, try to use a cell phone to run the vtt and call me an idiot for not being able to help them, Ive had players come in with the 'I have years of experience' and go straight into rape fantasy whilst meeting in a bar, and others who have tried to kill everyone in the bar both were during character introductions.  But yeah it says a lot about a GM that I wont put up with that.

But it isn't all one sided, like many gm's think. You are not perfect and calling names shows how immature you really are. what I got from you and greyhawk was your shit don't stink and its all the players fault.  This is not true by logic. I can guarantee at some point you screwed up. And by the way you have spoken here you probably blamed the player instead of yourself.
