Google Earth Application as Background Layer

Since our earth has a lot of nice locations and Google Earth has made the whole planet into a big battle map, would it not be nice to play on it? Some shiny green foggy overlay of GE would transform Neuschwanstein into a spooky castle. It would be like animated maps on steroids.
