[LFP][Heavy RP][CST] Roleplayer sought for unconventional fantasy story

Hi there! I've been DMing games for a while now (the longest one has been running for about two years now), and I prefer ones that are more heavily focused on individual character stories rather than just throwing a bunch of adventurers together and having them all go stab things and get loot. Now, as much as I enjoy the group-focused campaigns that many standard fantasy games are, lately I've been missing roleplays that are more focused on individual characters with their own personal goals and motivations. As a result, I'm looking for a creative and imaginative roleplayer who would like to participate in an individual character-driven story instead! Besides the "individual character" aspect, the main thing about this story is that I'm looking for it to be mainly focused on roleplaying much more than just combat and dice rolling and classes and "game" aspects like that. I'm hoping to find people who want to really have their characters feel like they're a part of the world and be unique and special in their own way without necessarily having to be epic adventurers on a quest to rescue a dragon or defeat a princess or whatever. Of course, it will still be in a fantasy setting and so I'm sure there will still be dangers and adventures and stuff along the way. But I think it'd still be nice if those dangers actually felt dangerous and like something to be avoided if possible rather than something that characters would just dive into headfirst because they're Adventurers and That's What Adventurers Do. So you can expect a lot more focus on roleplaying your way out of (or into?) situations, often with little dice rolling or combat whatsoever. So that's part of what I mean by calling this an unconventional fantasy campaign: a lot of roleplaying with a little side of "game" rather than the other way around! The other other reason why this is an unconventional fantasy story is that I would love to have it take place in an original, custom world and setting that will differ from other settings like Faerûn in some ways, so please be willing to take that into consideration for this campaign so you don't end up with a character that just feels copy+pasted from one world into another! I'll be sure to talk with you about that world in more detail and figure out if it feels like your character would be at home there or not, of course. We'll probably use Discord for communication and possibly Roll20 for some stuff as well? Also, the "game" parts of the story will likely be loosely based on 5e, but always with an emphasis on roleplay over game mechanics. "So, is this, like, a solo campaign?" Not necessarily, because if multiple roleplayers are interested in this and it seems like different characters could potentially meet each other and weave their stories together nearly, then I would totally be ok with turning it into a small group RP instead if people want to do that! But it would definitely start out as more of a solo campaign, and I would hope for it to still have a strong focus on individual character growth and individual story elements no matter what. --- If this sounds like something you might be interested in, please send me a message rather than a post with the following: What types of roleplay have you done before (anything besides D&D-style campaigns)? Are there any favorite or memorable RP moments that you don't mind sharing? What kind of characters do you usually like to roleplay? Do you like variety or is there more of a preferred "type" of character you often roleplay? And of course if you have any questions for me about anything, just let me know!
i like the idea of the campaign and would like to join i think it would be good practice me because i am not that experiniced in roll play and i would like to get better. i have a few ideas of characters and if you would have me i would like to go over them with you. i have been looking for a group to play d&d with and have had no luck find one so i hope you find this acceptable because i would like to join your campaign.
Hey there. I am looking for a CO DM for a running Midnight campaign that could use a like minded individual such as yourself that wants to help explore those individual character stories and arcs.  I think what you may be really looking for is a cool Play by Play campaign such as the one I am running where you can help characters really explore the inner aspects of their characters. If you'd like to chat more send me a PM.  Campaign: Crown of Shadow System: Midnight (3.5E) Style: Play by Post, heavy roleplaying
Hi! My name is Kadie! I was browsing the forums looking for another group (I've got two in my bag so far, here's hoping for a lucky third one!) for the summer after I finish school! I do have a character in mind in terms of individual stories as she is heavily based on greek mythology so some tweaking may be needed! And I am waiting for some other and groups to respond in the meantime. But I would love to collaborate with you if they fall flat! My Discord is Kade-Eldritch#7371 if you would like to communicate more when you have the time!
Hey there if there is a spot open I'm interested to join please ask me whatever you wish, I am an experienced roleplayer and fascinated to try this game out. Zeekernout72#2894
I'm in a very similar position to you, long time GM who has discovered they like personal and emotional arcs more than having players walk through your theme park. I'm always looking for opportunities to create or participate in stories where everyone is more invested in their characters' story than their character's equipment or abilities. I have played in a few games that really captured the feeling, each in different ways. One was a buddy cop mystery which ran for a year and only had three combats, carried by the mystery and strong characters with memorable interactions. Another was a battletech game that was very light on RP during the combats, but had a forum RP thread alongside it where the majority of character interaction and storytelling occurred between sessions, punctuated by news reports and orders, regarding previous or upcoming missions. The last was a sci-fi campaign in which the GM was so inspired by my character's situation and backstory that he incorporated a lot of it into the major story arc, leading to a bunch of emotional reveals and a sense of being a part of the world rather than a visitor. I've attempted to bring something similar to my own table, with varying degrees of success, and I've also been looking for similar games to play in. I would definitely like to sit down and chat about the subject if you'd like. Send me a DM and we can link up on Discord.
