I don't understand the low upload size limit

Dear Roll20 team, I've now in Corona times discovered that such a wonderful thing like Roll20 exists, helping me to stay connected with my RPG group and continue to tell our stories. Thanks for that! I after a few hours of exploring had no issues going for the plus membership - it is certainly worth backing this platform! And - just to put what I write into perspective - I have no regrets! On the contrary, I suppose after having mastered the basics, it is likely I upgrade to pro to make ample use of the API functionality - the potential I find immense! Still, one thing makes my life uneccessary difficult, and that is the in my eyes rediculously small upload size limit of 10 MB per file. With 3 GB of storage availabe, that's 300 files (assuming full size) - I don't think I ever need so many files, but what I desperatly need is e.g. a self made, custom taylored ambience soundtrack of 30 min's length - which I need to compress down to audio garbage in order to squeeze it into that file limit (even if it is larger for audio - no difference). I can understand that you need to watch bandwidth - if that's the issue, I'd at least like to know a way to include content hosted on another website - I own one, which would give me the option, but aside from providing links to the players I found no integrated way of using such content. Can you explain why you chose such a small file size limit, if there are plans to lift this hurdle or if there are ways to go around this? Thanks! Hauke
I think it's more for storage and backup costs than bandwidth. The Storage Quotas for Plus and Pro subscribers were raised just last year when the feature that allowed users to upload their own audio files went live. I think the intention is to not keep a vast library of audio in your account at once. Just upload what you need for your games and rotate files out as you are done with them.

I believe audio (and animation) files also undergo post processing in order to ensure performance. It could be an attempt to control server load.
I think you are correct, Keith, now that you mention that. I forgot about all the audio files that got stuck in conversion hell while uploading.
Thanks for the answers! I'd be really happy if I could embed external contentin a handout or siomething like that... The file size limit together with the inability to put multi-page PDF somewhere is what annoys me most...

There's no file size limit to handouts beyond the practical. PDFs and handouts (HTML) are extremely different formats. Adding a converter would be a huge task with very little payoff. Host the pdf somewhere and include a link to it in your game.
Hi Keithcurtis, sorry, I was a bit unclear. The file size problem is the one I stated initially, and a way around this would be if I somehow could embed external content, and the best place for this to me seems a handout. Regarding PDF: I do not see any necessity to convert or process PDFs in any way. Each modern browser has a PDF engine built-in, and all the Roll20 servers would need to do is include the PDF properly in their pages. That should be really easy! Same here: If I somehow could embed external content in e.g. a handout, there would be a solution also. For the time being I do it exactly like you suggest: I have a handout that just shows a link. That's OK, but not optimal. I put a suggestion/idea in, let's see if someone else follows me here.
