I have never played a D&D campaign in my life and I'd like to start one or participate in one... Looking to start from the beginning...

Hey everyone. I'm trying to play the recent D&D (that's the fifth edition, correct me if I'm wrong) before moving on to other tabletop pen-and-paper RPGs. I was told that I should start with Dungeons & Dragons if I was just starting out. I've only ever played Pathfinder (and even then, pretty sporadically). So, if ANYONE needs an extra player, then I'd be willing to work with them in a campaign, especially if they're also just starting from the beginning of a campaign. As you can tell, I know next to nothing about tabletop RPGs, but in my defense, I might as well jump in with both feet and get used to the rules, culture, and coordination. Thanks in advance, everyone, and if you have ANY advice or suggestions, then please tell me.
Well, if Tuesday evenings at 8 central work for you, I'd be happy to let you join in the campaign I'm starting up. I love training and playong with new players, because you haven't been trapped in the "right" way to do things! (As a disclaimer, the campaign is listed as a "pay-to-play" game. Just read the description for details.) https://app.roll20.net/lfg/listing/218412/d-and-d-5e-tyranny-of-dragons
Sure thing. Reading right now. Okay, I'll join. I take that this is the beginner campaign for D&D 5e? Or does it matter whether you start with the beginner campaign or not? Regardless, I'll probably join your team. Thanks! But honestly, I know next to nothing about D&D 5e except for what I've heard here and there. Truth be told, I've only played Pathfinder a few times IRL. So if you're fine with that, then I'm game.

Really, I'm just trying to gain experience for the most part. And quite frankly, I'm trying to eventually get to the point where I can sorta DM my own game. Besides, I have my communist buddies to go back to who are setting up a game of their own, so it's not big deal.
We also have a group who needs a player, his schedule didn't mesh with ours. Just starting Curse of Strahd, only 3 sessions in so far.

I may need to get into another game after all seeing as someone got into Elfangor's game before I did. I hope that you guys still have that spot open.
I may have found a group; I might consider other options, but don't count on it. Basically, if anyone wants to offer a game to me, they can, just to be clear, but unless you make the case for me joining really convincing, I probably won't join.
