Just making sure I understand how Roll20 works....

Hello Roll20.  I'd just like to make sure I understand how DMing and playing a game here on Roll20 works.  Whenever its time, we all sign into the site and I press the "Play" button or something.  Then, we're all connected to each other via webcam and/or microphone & speakers.  Then, as we play, we don't need to type back and forth, we simply talk to one another just like a regular real-world game except we're not sitting around a real table, we're looking at the same virtual table as well as each other on our screens because we're connected with our webcams.  Do I have that right or am I missing something?  Thanks!
Welcome to Roll20 Ev, You are right, Roll20 is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. It is totally free but you can subscribe to become Plus or Pro member with special perks. I believe some games may be played with microphone & speakers only but a majority are played with the keyboard, mouse and microphone & speakers. As you said, the real table is replaced with a virtual table (VTT: Virtual Table Top). All players around the VTT are seeing the same objects, in real-time. The VTT is common to all players in a specific game. Players in another game have their own instance of the VTT. A game can hold from 2 players to ... a lot, don't know the exact number. The more, the merrier. ;) Some DM allows new players to join their game (that is, members that do not know the rule of a specific game but want to learn), some prefers seasoned players. Webcam is not mandatory. If you value you privacy, nobody will prevent you from accessing a game because he can't see you. If this happen, you should contact Roll20 staff.

Actually, I'm not sure that last sentence is correct. If someone is running a game and they require webcam access, don't join that game. If there's a policy that says otherwise, let me know. I don't play with folks I don't know, so I'm not too versed in the LFG rules.
