Hello, Stuck in quarantine and wanting to hang out with friends in a way that doesn’t involve gaming or making small talk over zoom? Have a group of friends always interested in playing DND but needing someone more experienced to help run the show? I’m looking for an already established group of 3-5 players that’s interested in playing a DND 5E campaign set on the high seas in a setting based on the inner sea setting from Pathfinder. I’m willing to be flexible on the timing and frequency of the sessions based on the group’s desires and availability. Likewise, I can tailor the campaign's format and tone to what a group is interested in. The Campaign Setting in brief: For 10,000 years the shattered continent of Azlant has been wreathed in a perpetual storm, hiding the secrets of the ancient Azlanti Empire from prying eyes. It would take the aftershocks from the death of a god to finally blow away this storm and finally allow adventurers, archaeologists, miners and settlers to access the continent. Though initially still considered a backwater, the discovery of a new metal with fantastic properties has sparked a massive rush for territory and mining rights between the freedom loving democracy of Andoran, the Devil worshiping nation of Cheliax and the profit obsessed Kalistocracy of Druma. Tensions grow between and within these three factions, while necromancers ranging from their settlements on the dead coast raid nearby towns and ships for test subjects, and worshipers of Sarenrae look to expand their newly formed Theocracy of the Sun. Beneath the waves, aquatic societies have seen these new surface dwellers as a nuisance at best, and an active threat to their way of life at worst. Other forces stir that have remained dormant since the fall of the Azlanti Empire, and minds far older and more intelligent than the upstart races colonizing the bones of Azlant have begun to take notice of these new interlopers. You can find a much more in depth preview of the setting at: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1gEfqH3PZNyghIVmsIX3FAoZUJrl76i_cUgIbEKGsf4A/edit?usp=sharing A map of the shattered Azlant setting is below, but can be seen in full resolution at: https://imgur.com/gallery/j53Vkhb My style: I try to run a campaign that gives players a great deal of flexibility on what they want to do. I try to preserve player agency whenever possible and make sure that the party and players as individuals are able to make choices that matter and influence the setting and trajectory of the campaign. I try to shoot for a good mix of roleplaying and combat. While some sessions may be almost entirely composed of a series of combat encounters that test the party’s creativity and physical limits, others might have no combat at all, perhaps because the party is exploring a new city and making plans, or because the players were successfully able to avoid combat or defeat their opponents without needing to fight at all. This game will require payment to the Game Master at a rate of $20 a session for an approximately three-hour session made through PayPal. Roll20 is not responsible for any payment transactions and cannot enforce any private arrangements. My intent behind asking for payment is to help me with some of the costs associated with running online games the way I’d like (i.e roll 20 and dnd beyond subscriptions), and to help me purchase new tools for use (i.e. new sourcebooks on dnd beyond or other worldbuilding tools), rather than trying to use this as a major source of profit. My promise is that your payments will be directly reinvested in improving my DMing tools and abilities. If this is a campaign your group might be interested in playing please let me know and feel free to message me with any questions you might have. I’m willing to do a free session 0 (character building, questions about the setting and a bit of initial gameplay) so you can see if my DMing style works for you, and so that I can meet your group. I look forward to hearing from you!
