Can't drag item from compendium to character sheet

I tried to drag in an item to a character sheet but I am unable to do that. It is in the same window (not popped out) and shows that "accepting drops from compendium" text. When I drag it over, nothing happens. I saw a previous post about how it could be a corrupted character or something so I duplicated the character and tried it again but it still does not work. It seems to be working for some other characters but not this one specific one. Any ideas?

Couple of things to look for. Are you using a Compendium-compatible sheet? D&D 5th Edition by Roll20 and Shaped are compatible for 5e D&D, for instance, but Community is not. Is it a PC? NPCs will only accept certain types of drop: weapons and spells mostly, but not general equipment, traits, etc.

1. I am using  D&D 5th Edition by Roll20 2. It's a PC I ended up just adding it manually but hoping I don't have to do that every time.

I'm also having this issue in a game I've been running for about 18 months - created a new monster using a template I have in game for this, tried to copy spells across, got the Sacred Flame cantrip and then...nothing. Although the sheet says it's "Accepting drop from Compendium", it plain doesn't. I tried to copy the sheet thinking maybe it was just a one-off, did some DIY and came back a day later, tried again, and....nothing. Even tried using Firefox (rather than my usual Chrome) and it made no difference. I don't know why this should suddenly stop working between spell drops, and then give me nothing at all... Any suggestions?

It has only happened in this one character so far. It occurs for every entry I try to drag from the compendium.
