Trying to start up new 4th ed game using either GTO/RPGTO or roll20; need players

Session lengths preferably 3 - 4 hours long. I'm open to playing any day of the week - as long as its 6 CST or later on weekdays, or about any time on the weekends. Can use either GTO/RPGTO, or roll20. I personally like both - GTO is incredibly convenient due to ability to import 4th ed PCs directly - but roll20 otherwise seems more versatile - and in-game music... come on, thats pretty cool :). roll20 I'm giving myself a crash course in, but I think it should be fine. ok! onto the details... Adventure Hook Below! Wanting to start a brand new campaign, using 1st level characters, in 4th edition. The setting is forgotten realms, 4th edition 'lore'. I tried a first session of this in 5th ed, and admittedly I decided 4th ed fits the campaign much better, for obvious reasons. I prefer small groups, so if I could get at least 3 people interested, that'd be great. If you're interested, make a post here so we can tally up how many players we actually have. Once we have at least three, I'll ask people to give me email addresses, and I will send out invites to some campaign stuff on epicwords.com. There you can check out little lore wikis, other players and their characters, that sort of thing. Its a cool site I 'do' want players to know 4th ed and to be able to make their their own characters ahead of time, using the character builde r. You can use whatever- no house rules or anything similar. Only other thing I look for in players generally, is consistency. I want regulars. Missing a session every now and then is fine - just try to make it to the majority if ya can, to keep the game going. Maybe can get 4 or 5 players if were lucky, so if one person misses a session, it doesn't cause as big of an impact on the party. A bit about the campaign... The jist of the campaign is that it takes place in eastern Forgotten realms, in a genasi country called 'Akulan'. Its surrounded by three neighbors - magic-hating Chessenta, pirate nation of High Imaskar, and dragonborn nation of Tymanther. ___________________________________________ Adventure Hook ____________________________________________ *A letter is sent to each PC, whose garnered some reputation for their individual talents, in whatever country and region they may reside,* Friends, as you well know, these are hard times. Akulan and Tymanther are once again on the brink of war. Akulan is preparing for invasion. High Imaskar, due to the obligations of their treaty with Tymanther, will likely be dragged in as well. This can only end in a tragic loss of life. The reason behind such high tensions, as you may have heard, has to do with alleged dragonborn raids on trade caravans west of the Thunderbluffs. But I do not think all is as it seems. I have good reason to believe that there are certain forces at work, seeking to perpetrate a senseless, bloody war. This exact reason is called Xorvintaal, The Great Game. I can give you the history lesson in person, if you truly care for it. As a noble, it would be too unpopular for me to question the credibility of the dragonborn raids openly, due to the historical animosity between our two nations. And so I require a private party to investigate the truth of the matter. As a wealthy noble of the most powerful nation in all the East, I can promise you an offer you will agree to. But please also consider the righteousness of your quest - if you can help avert a war between three nations, you would save countless lives. If you're interested, I will give more details should you agree to see me at the Cresting Wave Inn, in Airspur. -Mardiz-Sul, Fire Soul _________________ _________________ Our first session will be planned if and whenever we have enough people to play!
I should state - we got a shifter longtooth ranger (ie, a striker), so far in the party. Just in case you're thinking about character ideas. 2 more players and were good to 'start'. We'll still accept about 2 more players after that and cap the party size at 5. But we'll start as soon as we get at least 3.
Update: We might, tentatively, be up to two players now. If we can get one more, we can set up a time for our first session.
Were can i sign up! :)
ok! we got enough interest to get this ball rolling so far! First , most importantly - date! We are aiming for Tuesday, 19th of march, at 7:00 pm PST for our first game . We plan to run every tuesday at that time, for about 3 or 4 hoursish. Second , capacity! We have, so far: 1) A shifter Longtooth Ranger 2) A shifter swordmage? (correct me if I'm wrong, the person who mentioned it) 3) ?? (trey, whoever you want to make) 4) ?? (wocks, whoever you want to make) I would be willing to take 1, or 2, more players at the most - I don't want it to get too crowded. Third, we will be using rolld20 for our software! apparently these forums are more active than GTO, so thats what were going with. To those who are interested, can you please send an email to gregsnyder75@hotmail.com , so I can invite you to our epicwords.com website? We can use it as an organizational tool/put up fluff story,xp, loot, etc/ see other people's characters. Its a fun site!
Hey Greg, you have some interest here :) My email is nick_P_taylor@yahoo.com
Is there any possibility of the time being changed? I'd like to play, but 7pm pst is 10pm for me, and I have class the next day, so I'd prefer to be in bed between midnight and one. Have a bard I'd like to try out.
We can try - I think at least one player needed it to be 7 pm or later (well 6:30 or later, but its nice to have a bit of wiggle room). I'm EST time zone, so its late for me too - but if we only play 3 hour sessions, it should be fine. Feel free to try a bard - so far we need a healer, I think.
We have 4 players now, officially. Will take 1 or 2 more at most. There is a 'high' chance that we will end up doing earlier saturdays, as opposed to late tues or late weds. If anyone is still interested, please pm me. I won't be checking this thread as much!
Were pretty full right now, so as of this post, I don't want to take anyone else. I kind of prefer smaller groups (4 or 5 party members), especially for 4th ed. If this changes, I'll repost here. Thanks!
