"LA: Darkest Night" is a Vampire The Masquerade v20 campaign set in modern-day Los Angeles. Kindred society has been ripped out, root and stem, by a Prince that turned the world on its head. You and your peers were all turned by the same "man" who also saved your life. How is this possible? How can one vampire be responsible for creating kindred of many lineages? Uncountable questions start here and lay before you spreading and multiplying with each twist. One thing is certain: There are no existing power structures to hold you back. The Camarilla and the Sabbat wage war in secret up and down the West Coast seeking the right to retake LA under their own banner. For the moment, none dare tread too closely lest they get swept up in turbulence left behind. Eventually, the old ways will come calling if you offer nothing better. This is an investigative, self-paced, supernatural "kingdom builder" which will allow the players to shape, create, destroy, rebuild, their own Kindred Society in LA. Stay as small as you want and watch how things shake out among those driven by petty power. Or step into the power vacuum and rise above the pretenders looking to seize control. This is a roleplay heavy game that will necessitate throwing away fallbacks like traditional Kindred society, although such ancient institutions inform who you are today. Allies and enemies alike will come in all shapes and sizes. Pieces on the board wait to be discovered and moved to achieve whatever means you want. No ominous and distant Prince or Bishop telling you what you can or cannot do. Which is the greater burden? To be free or to be beholden? ----- --You should avoid this game if you are uncomfortable talking 1-on-1, in character, with NPCs in front of a group. --You should avoid this game if you are uncomfortable with adult themes that are common to WoD and VtM. --You should avoid this game if you have trouble deciphering character motivations. --You should avoid this game if you rely on the Storyteller to hand out all your objectives. --You should avoid this game if occasional administrative tasks and describing minutia are a painful bore to you. --You should avoid this game if you want to min/max or primarily care about combat without context. ----- --You should join this game if want allies and enemies to be the consequence of your actions. --You should join this game if you are able to dream up tasks relevant to your own interests, and pursue them. --You should join this game if you want to work with other players to build your own Kindred society. --You should join this game if you are okay having minimal Background dots at character gen, and earning them through play. --You should join this game if you like the broader WoD/Chronicles setting and want more agency than typically found in VtM. --You should join this game if you enjoy "Sandbox" game concepts. ----- If this interests you, please fill out the following google form which contains "calibration questions" that I ask all my players, to ensure we are on the same page: https://forms.gle/eu3uhyVubjfQS6D17 This game will be organized through Discord for status updates and is going to start at 7 pm Central US time.
