Need a player perception roll macro that is hidden from the player.

I need a way for the players to make rolls such as perception, where they cannot see the result.  I find open perception rolls to be useless ("oh I rolled a 1, thats why I didnt find anything, Ima gonna roll again", or "I rolled a nat 20 and didnt find anything so obviously theres nothing to find."  Id prefer a dialogue box to pop up for simplicity that the players can use, if possible.  Thanks!

AFAIK, this is not possible.  Assuming this is D&D 5e - I would rely on the PC's Passive Perception score for things they would observe without specifying they are looking around for something specific. If they declare that that they want to look around, then you can choose to have them roll to GM.  They will see the result, but none of the other players will.  If you establish table etiquette of the players not announcing their rolls and not reacting based on the roll, then the other players will not have any inkling of how things went. The last option would be to have you as the GM roll the check for them, but some players will really dislike that as they will feel it is out of their control. -Adam
