Please Help Dynamic lighting and tokens (hopefully simple)

I'm running my first roll20 game tomorrow, for Alien. I've built all my maps and set up the pages with dynamic lighting(still working on it). But I must be doing something wrong, every time I go to another page to work on it and I drag the character name onto the map the token is right but it isn't set up. I have to give them sight, emit light all that stuff, even assign it to a character, even though I dragged the character name onto the map. Do I need to leave all the character tokens on every single page already saved? Or am I doing something wrong? I just don't want to get into a situation tomorrow where I go to a new page and no one see anything because I have to spend a few minutes setting up the tokens. Thanks in advance for the help. Mike

You will need to setup your token then open the character shéet and remove the default token then select the fully setup token and make it your default token.

I.e. setting the token as default is the last step. Nothing you do to a token after that will affect the default.
Yup That was it. I had dragged just image over. I knew it was something simple. Now the only problem is when I switch to a new page and drag them on they are tiny and I have to resize them to one grid square. I know this is because my maps are all different sizes and I tweaked the grid in each one to make them "match." Is there a simple workaround for this?

It helps if you set up the "default" token on a map page with the default 70xp grid. It seems to be more likely to adapt to other grid scales if you start out that way.
Ah excellent thanks so much everyone!! You guys are a big help. Mike

Now that I'm home here is a wiki link: https://wiki.roll20.net/Linking_Tokens_to_Journals and the help center: https://roll20.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039715593-Linking-Tokens-to-Journals . It is recommended to go with the help center as that is the most recent and updated info.
Follow up question since I'm new. We played last night and it went great! The dynamic lighting maps worked amazing with all the sound fx and mood music I was pumping in. My question is this. Can I "light" a room with some low level atmospheric colored lights and not have them revealed to anyone until they clear the fog and open up the map? Also what's the best settings for the the tokens so that if a player isn't on the map (because they split the party) and they are just waiting for their turn to come up but I'd like them to be able to follow along and see what the other players are seeing. Thanks everyone!

1. You can create fake lighting by using a token with a very large aura. But Dynamic Lighting isn't really providing light in any traditional sense, so it can't make color. It's actually "Dynamic Unmasking". Mood Lighting Tokens - keithcurtis — ( Video by Nick O, timestamp ) Black Aura Token for Night - lordmage 2. There isn't really an easy way to do this sort of thing, and I ran into just this issue last game, where I had one map for dry land and one for underwater of the same location. I spent a lot of back and forth time. A better solution would have been to enlarge the page and place both maps on it.
That was perfect thanks!
