Looking for group

Hey all Just signed back in after 7 years, figured I'd give this another try. I'd call myself a new player, no real preference for system or setting. I've tried playing before but only as a GM and I didn't particularly enjoy that, I'd really like to try playing as a player. Again though, I'm a beginner and I really don't know what I'm doing. I would prefer a group/GM with plenty of patience.
Chad, I'm a new player too and I just posted on several messages. I would like to find a group where we just run through D&D fights, spells, skill checks, etc. rapidly with no real story line in order to become proficient at the rules and system. Just for a while, like a boot camp.
Past experience hasn't made me super-enthused about D&D just due to the constant checks and math, but the 5e Starter Set is pretty much the only RPG I have on hand right now so I'd consider that as long as I don't have to GM.
If you guys want to run something like what Murder Happens said, add me on Discord at Vizual#8094 and I'll run some combat sessions for you.
Pardon my ignorance but what is Discord?
It's what most people use for voice communication.  You can download it for free.
Thanks, I downloaded it. Will probably set it up tomorrow, it's getting late for me.
Keep me posted. I'm in if you get this set up. Chad, I think if you get really proficient at the rolling and math it goes faster then the adventure part will get richer.
I just sent a friend request on Discord, at EchoIon#7248
I am fairly new, but spend too much time reading through the material and would be super down to join and discuss mechanics. I highly recommend the series "handbooker helper if you want a short but sweet intro to 5e mechanics. I also recommend critical role if you want to see them in action in a fun story. Add me on discord, ThePhenom#2321.
Check out the post "Beginner Boot Camp", then private message me if you are interested. Murder Happens
