Wrong username appearing for player?

My player's username isn't appearing in the "Can Be Edited & Controlled By" dropdown menu in the character sheet edit menu. This player appears in the invited players list but a completely different name appears in the dropdown menu. Removing the incorrect name or exiting and reentering the game doesn't fix the issue. Does anyone have any idea what might be happening?

A player can change their name for a game inside that game. For example, I have a player named "Observer," but in my game I can change his name to "Watcher".  "Observer" still appears on the "INvited Players" list, but in game, everything is linked to "Watcher." EDIT: If this isn't what you meant, sorry, I might have misunderstood the question.
