New GM looking to give Shadowrun a try

(Revised May 27th with dates and junk!) Hey guys, I'm starting up a Seattle Shadowrun 5th edition group. The campaign will span ideally over years both in game and out of game. We will start out running the streets, and eventually make it to the big leagues as we make names for ourselves. I'm looking for five to six players in order to get started, and in a perfect world, we should have varied archetypes over all the spectrums. The overall campaign will have a mature rating, so no kids allowed. Date: Tuesday or Thursday (Vote now!) Starting Time: Anytime after 8PM Central Time. Books allowed: Core, Run & Gun, more later on Trigger Warnings: Sexuala Content, Drug Content, General Despair, and, of course, Assassination, General Wetwork, and pleanty of Gory Gory Combat. Requirements: A mic and use of Skype (though popular vote can change the voip program we use) Games will be weekly, and I will try to have a tactical map for each necessary encounter. New players welcome!
What edition are you planning on running?
I would be interested in this quite alot just one thing, what timezone? I am GMT. Also never played shadowrun before will need to go through making a charecter and rules and such.
I have 5th and 4th, gunning for 5th though. Need to grt splatbooks for either. Also, I live in Central Standard
I would love to play a game of Shadowrun. I'm new to the world and system, but I've got the 5E rulebook. Sounds like it could be a blast.
I live in AZ time myself. What day and time were you thinking of running?
Day and time are up in the air it would seem. Nowhere near concrete planning stages yet
How many more people do you need?
So far, Ravi U is the only one that seems really down with it. Hoping to get a balanced team (just means we need one Awakened, a decker, and a street sam, or basic gunners, and were good to go,) But keep in mind, I am out of fthe country until Sunday night, so, all I can do atm is get a list of interested people and maybe make a run or five. :)
I'd be interested if the day and time work out
Well-versed in 4e, somewhat versed in 5e core at least. If we can run Friday evenings EST I'd be game. More than willing to teach, as long as you're willing to learn. Very strong setting knowledge{Not counting anything whatsoever involving Earthdawn, so please don't ask because I haven't a fragging clue}. Also willing to help new players. Gimme a shout if you want me in, my Skype handle is ampzaphrix .
I'd be interested. I'm reasonably experienced and pretty flexible with what to play. I haven't have a chance to play 5th yet, so I'd love to give it a shot.
what would all of you he interested in playing? first come first run
Despite it being sort of contrarian, I'd like to a human gun junkie with no enhancements.
In 5e? Kind of wanna try a Face. Still really fuzzy on details.
I already had someone lined up to be a face. not saying you can't, but sometimes yiu just cant face your way past a strength 7 water spirit trying to drown you. :p
My philosophy is that if you're in combat, you've messed up.
I have 15 years of d&d experience but no SR experience. I have the fifth ed book and would love to play provided the times work out (looking for around 8pm cst if on weekdays, could do later tho) I'd like to play a decker but really I'm up for anything. Let me know! Thanks man!
I'm also open. I don't have a specific character in mind, as I think I've played every basic archetype at least once. Rather, I'd like to see what the game is going to be about (thinkgs like streets level vs pro runner, what kinds of runs we can expect to do, that sort to thing) and where others are going with their characters. That way the character actually fits. I've played too many prime runners in street level games and vice versa to walk into that trap again.
Ryan H; any closer to narrowing a day down yet? very interested here too. (there are apparently a LOT of people interested in SR on here, but not nearly enough GM's) i'm mostly familiar with samurai, deckers, and adepts. i could play any of those, altho they're easy roles to fill too, so i don't mind playing something else either. Lazy Bear; sometimes, whether someone messes up, or it's just the universe out to get you tonight, things -do- go wrong. that security guard who's been regular as clockwork every night for two weeks.... well tonight, before he started on his way in to work, he got a call from his supervisor, and that promotion finally came thru. he's getting a raise! and he decided to celebrate by picking up a double-venti soykaf instead of his regular order. and now instead of him being all the way on the other side of the building, there you are staring face to face at him right as he steps out of the bathroom. you have about half a second. can you stop him before his hand gets to the panic button on his belt? :P ... and sometimes the mission simply -is- to get into combat. either way, it'll happen sooner or later.
I need to check my school schedule. Im thinking on making a dynamic campaign - everyone is green, even the first Fixer. When I grt back to my room later today, I will make my list. Im thinking the game would best be done at 7-9 Wednesday-Friday. That isnt an official date, I still need to check my school schedule. Im due back in the states Monday iirc, and I can likely get an answer that night
when you say "7-9 wed - fri"... did you mean 3x 2h blocks each week? or did you mean starting between 7 and 9, on one of those days?
sorry, the later. Im not super GM

haha ok. that's what i assumed you meant, but always important to make sure. for me weds would be best, fri if it's closer to 9 than 7.. and thurs i have a game in that block already. also, what time zone are you in?
I want to join, but I don't have an archetype to play yet. I can be a technomancer or anything involving tech. Can I still join?
Ryan I'm open any of those days, preferably 8 PM or later but I can be flexible.
What timezone are we talking? I work until 9pm local (Mountain, I think -7) on Wednesdays and am busy Fridays.
Im im central standard. okay, guys, anyone who can get a game in on mon-thur at about 8 pm, and want a street level game that turns into a prime runner game at some point, go ahead and start pming me charactersheets, preferably in text. It will help me choose the final roster when i get back. Also, i have our first few runs in the initial phases of planning, and our first few contacts/johnsons.
I know the date is still up in the air, but if I get character sheets, I can see where we need more people and different archetypes
lol i'd bet it's just that people need a little time to pull together a character. i know i do.
Went ahead and revised the intro post. Im going to stop posting for a while before I get bopped by an admin. x3
just to make it easier on you guys, the limits for street level runners are in a abox on page 64 of the shadowrun 5th ed core rulebook
I've played the video games of shadowrun, never played the pen and paper but I have been interested in it for a long time. Would want to run a Rigger.
Ryan; how fixated are you on it being 5th ed? or, what are the odds you'd consider moving back to 4th ?
I have no splatbooks for 4th. :<
ah.. well then. mind you, not like 5th really has any either, lol..
I'd love to join, especially a 5th ed game.
I think I'm an hour behind you, depending on daylight savings. Because my boss won't firm up my work schedule, I wouldn't be able to join until well after the session has started and would never have a consistent day off to play on. That's just not going to work with anyone. Best of luck with the group.
Alright, lads, I finally have a good date down. I have two openings: Tuesday, anytime after 8PM Central, or Thursday, anytime after 8PM Central. I'm taking votes now, and I'm going to be having this planned out before the end of the night.
my vote: tuesday!

I have a very slight preference towards Thursday. I usually play soccer on either Monday or Wednesday nights so if we play Thursday I can do soccer on Mondays, thereby spreading out my 'me' time a bit better. tl;dr: Thursday

I'd be up for joining! I have the rule book and am familiar with the setting (from playing Shadowrun Returns/Dragonfall). I can do either Tuesday or Thursday. If I had to choose, I'd rather do Thursday.

Thursdays would be great for me. I'm on mountain time, so this should work out well for me.
argh! all you contrary thursday people! *shakes a fist* i've already got a game thurs, so it looks like i won't be able to make it if that's the final day.
Sorry, Azrael. I have a personal friend I know irl that wants to join, and can only do Thursdays. I would love to stay in contact, though
*shrugs* hey, what can ya do, right? if 80% of the group calls for one day... :) and yea, we'll definitely need to keep in touch :D
