[LFDM] :: [LFG] === BattleTech (Any Era)

I won't bore you all with long descriptions of ships ablaze in space, desert planets scattered with desolated tanks and mechs, and cruisers making their way through space to retake lost territory of your favorite Inner Sphere faction.  I'm new to the setting and system. A friend tried to pitch it years back, but I was involved in other games at the time. Now I've started looking for something new to break into and BattleTech came up in discussion again. So here I am looking for a group who would be interested in taking in a new player with limited knowledge of the setting ready to jump into the cockpit and take on a whole galaxy of new challenges.  Hope that someone's attention is piqued. If not, so be it!  Thanks in advance.
I would love to play as well. I am relatively experienced player be it in lore or system.
So, you're looking for BattleTech, which is a tabletop minis war game, or MechWarrior/ A Time of War, which is the RPG set in the same universe as the war game?
Forgive my ignorance, Jim. I was under the impression that MechWarrior was the video game series, and "A Time of War" is "The BattleTech RPG." If I've missed something from the source I've been reading from, please let me know.  But given that I am looking for a DM, I'm trying to find a group for the tabletop RPG
Well Battletech is divided into Battletech Tabletop mini and Battletech Time of war(Tabletop RPG). Mechwarrior is  used for game titles.

The RPG which came some time afterwards was originally called MechWarrior, and only recently switched titles to "A Time of War." (Which may or may not have to do with how much of the old FASA intellectual property is currently owned by Microsoft; see also "Crimson Skies" and the short-lived Shadowrun video game for the XBox). I know it's a little deep, but you might want to specify era as well, if you really have one in mind (3025, Clan Wars, Word of Blake, etc.). There was a guy here that posted not too long ago with a plan to run a game where he used BattleTech for the mech-piloting and GURPS for everything else (completely different system, but same setting); you might scan this forum back a few weeks to see if you can find him.
I actually had 2 runs as DM in Time of war and we found it relatively good for both mech and personal RP based game. Sure, if you play as Mechwarrior it is usually harder to be of any use in non mech scenarios, but we dealt with this in way that each player had 2 characters(Part of whole crew), one suited for mech combat, other for rest.

I really like that idea. I think that would be a great benefit to the story side of things, as well. Seems that having characters that serve to further the personal storytelling, and the "larger than life" mechwarriors telling the story of the war on a much grander scale.

Also interested (as a player).  Maybe switch off as a GM depending, I got pretty burned out from running multiple campaigns at the same time so trying to take a break from running.  The other group decided 4 AM (GMT -7 PST) weekdays was the best starting time so I had to drop :)
I received a message from the other group. The weekday morning game just isn't a good fit since I've returned to work. I can make a night game work almost without fail, regardless of the day though. I was sad to see that I wouldn't be able to join.
I too missed out on that game and would love the chance to play BT, as the setting and game have always been on my top 10 list of rpg's
So whats the deal, we gonna do it or not? :)
I'm 100% on board with playing. Are you offering to run?
Well it seems I have to. No one else said a word. Ok, I will think about game and post invite here in day or two.
