Character info not porting onto map with Token

Myself, and a friend have found that if we drag a character from the journal onto a map ONLY the token ports over. If we double click on the journal entry for the character all the info is there, Character sheet filled out, macros in place, etc. But the map token now say "generic". We change that to represent the journal character again but the map token puts some info back but the radial circles are blank even though the attributes still show on the character sheets. It is not bringing the character info onto the map, only the token.
I am having this same problem. I have to redo the characters every time they they are replaced from the journal.
Be sure that you set up everything the way you want it to be on a token (lighting, bars, auras, etc.). Then and only then set it as the default token for a character. This is the last step you do - think of it like saving your work. Any changes you make to a token afterward will persist only on that token. If you drag out another one, you will be back to the settings the token had when you set it as default token.
Thank you for the reply, Rabulias. However - Up until today they seemed to work fine. (I've only be on roll 20 for a week) I did not change anything on the character ALL the info is still with the character token as listed in the Journal. As I said, double clicking on the Journal entry reveals all the character docs exactly as I set them up. I have not seen any "button" to set the token as the "default" token. Isn't what is in the journal what should be with the token when it is dragged from the journal to the map? Thanks again, but it doesn't make sense that the info doesn't port with the drag and drop.
Sorry, I was assuming you had set these as default tokens for characters. See here: <a href="https://wiki.roll20.net/Linking_Tokens_to_Journals" rel="nofollow">https://wiki.roll20.net/Linking_Tokens_to_Journals</a>
Same goes with lighting as well.

No this is an issue all together and has nothing to do with defaults. Edit: I already had defaults. Whatever is happening site side undefaulted the tokens or rather. It showed that it was still linked or had lighting setting but would constantly revert or change. I had to open the token settings, make the changed again and re-open the topken settings making sure it didnt revert (or not closing it) then reapply the default token (deleting the original) and now it seems to be working. It would seem that making quick adjustments on the fly like adding a "torch" doesnt work or has a chance to not work since I edited my players token and it didnt apply to them on their end but worked visually for me.&nbsp;
Rabulias, thank you for that link. I reviewed it and that is exactly how I set up the character. As I said, it was working fine until yesterday, May 5. I noticed there were changes made to tokens by the developers that day. Could whatever they did result in this problem? I hope they see these posts, and perhaps others as well and give this issue some attention. Thank you again.
Are you dragging the character's name from the Journal to the VTT ( not the picture or the three bars)?
You cannot place the token on the map at all if you don't drag the name. Dragging the 3 bars does not drop a token. So, yes, I have been dragging the name over. I just did it again to see if maybe it had been corrected. No dice. The token drops into place, but does not represent the character. When I put the character's name in it still does not fill in the info. When I double click on the name in the journal all the proper settings and info are displayed. I'd love to hear from administrators.

I think at this point, you do need to follow the Solving Technical Issues steps ( <a href="https://wiki.roll20.net/Solving_Technical_Issues" rel="nofollow">https://wiki.roll20.net/Solving_Technical_Issues</a> ) and submit a bug report and a console log. Keep in mind the devs are swamped so their response might be delayed.

Mike K &nbsp;said: I have not seen any "button" to set the token as the "default" token. Isn't what is in the journal what should be with the token when it is dragged from the journal to the map? From the description of the systems, this is where the disconnect seems to be. After you make changes to the token, you must delete the current default token (press "Edit" at the top of the character journal). Then you will see the button for the default token. Delete the current one and you will see the option to use the current, correctly set up token as the new default token. It should then drag from the journal correctly. Apologies if this is exactly what you have been doing and it is not working, but This sounds like exactly the issue. Cableguy said: ...then reapply the default token (deleting the original) and now it seems to be working. This is the correct order. Changes to a token on the board do not affect the default token in any way. The default token is simply a copy of the token from the last time you set a default token. Setting the default has to be the last step. Again, apologies to both if you have been setting the default token and then getting something different from that saved default. But there are two or three posters here reporting slightly different or incomplete accounts and it makes it difficult to parse out exactly what is going on. My suspicion is that this is a procedural error and not a bug, since something this fundamental would be flooding the boards by now. If you can post a precise step by step path to replication of the behavior, I'm sure we can uncover the problem.
Thank you, keithcurtis. I did what you said and deleted the token after adding the info back in for the radial circles and then "use the selected token" and it worked. I suppose I assigned a token to the character before filling in the radial circle info. Now when I drag the character onto the map the radial circle info is there. Thank you much.

It's a very common learning curve stumbling block. I liken saving the default token to saving your work on a word processing file. If you open it and make a lot of changes, you haven't changed the file itself until you save again.
Yep, this happens to me too.
