Dynamic Lighting: Max View Distance

Currently, light sources are either seen by one player, or all players. The ability to set a maximum view distance, regardless of light, for a token would be a useful tool. For example, in Pathfinder there is a character option for the Oracle class that curses the character with restricted vision for other benifits. A character with this curse cannot see beyond 30ft. With no option to limit a maximum view distance for a token, this character can see light sources that all characters can see, such as a torch, from any distance away as long as their is nothing blocking their line-of-sight. The option to impose a maximum view distance for a token would likely apply to many other situations.
This would be a terrific feature.

You can set light sources to be seen my multiple players but not all players. Give each player that should see the light source control of the token. Regarding the Oracle, set all light sources to be controlled by characters other than the Oracle. Then give the Oracle a 30' vision range. Note: this will require the players to be adult and not move around light sources they are not supposed to move.

Yeah, that would be a possible workaround. Would require a decent amount of prep work, and players to be adults, as mentioned. It could be a little challenging to set up every light source this way, though I suppose I could give players a "torch" icon to carry around. Another situation I ran into where the Max View Distance would be awesome is a character getting blinded. Unchecking "Have sight" prevents them from even seeing their own token, when they should have some sense of their immediate surroundings. If max view distance were a thing, it would be simple to give a blinded character a 5' sight radius without having to micromanage every light source. Would it be possible to use an API script (if I were to up my subscription) that could remove a player's ability to control multiple instances of a specific token with a quick command?

You would have to ask the API forum whether or not you can set player control over tokens with the API.
