Crazy lag in games

I am not sure what is going on. Lately, I have been lagging like crazy hosting my games, sometimes up to 10 seconds before things respond. It makes things unbearable and my players are getting tired of it. Is there something going on? The games in question if a Dev chimes in, is "Escape the Depths" and "For the Arena."
it's not just you. ever since the dynamic lighting update it's been rough

I'm getting the lag problems mostly in API scripts resolving after a long delay... Skips / buffering or not playing at all in Jukebox sounds. The actual disconnecting "red warning box" has not been happening a lot (to me) but API and Jukebox have been seriously lagging / affected. In my games. For the last 3-6 weeks.
Yeah, these all seem to be happening with the UDL. If there are so many problems that have occurred since the release of the feature Updated Dynamic Lighting, why dont they roll back their code? They obviously have screwed something up. This is happening on ALL browsers for me. Firefox, Waterfox, Chrome, Edge. It's crazy! And it has been going on for weeks. Something needs to happen.

Consider adding your bug report to the best and most relevant of the several matching current recent topics about this under Bugs forum and Pro forum and API forum.

either / both. Yes there is a bug report way to gather Console Log, if i understand correctly i believe roll20 hired a support staff to answer these and ask the user to send that Michael S. said: Gold said: Consider adding your bug report to the best and most relevant of the several matching current recent topics about this under Bugs forum and Pro forum and API forum. Bad lag tonight. Had to restart the API sandbox constantly. I am not going through the formal process of reporting a bug because I don't have time and the Roll20 team should know damn well by now what the issue is. Fix. Your. Servers.

Could you perhaps point us to the most pertinent of those forum threads? I'm also experiencing this problem, which led to my group of five, including two with premium subscriptions, having to abandon our game last night.
Unfortunately roll20 is becoming an increasingly frustrating experience for myself and my groups of players. Which is a shame, as I have invested quite a bit of money in this software (add-ons, purchases on the marketplace, etc). Without being too harsh, unfortunately software development is incredibly slow, the feedback on new suggestions is slow and the solutions almost non-existent (see non-printable character sheets, lack of API management in different games via the Trasmoglifier, lack of adequate tools to export/edit maps etc, lack of a repository for custom adventures created by different players,...the list goes on). 99% of suggestions from the public are just dumped, and the more interesting and clever they are, the more they are ignored. The lack of alternatives out there (for now) is the only reason I am still here, to be frank. Sorry for the few people of good will who are trying to pull roll20 in a different direction, but frankly it is not just good enough for a company with millions of users. Your customer care is appalling, sorry if I sound harsh. You are taking advantage of a position of dominance. Be careful to the laws of market, though...
The lag still persists. This is getting out of hand. Like really, 10-30 seconds before things respond. What is going on here?
Getting constant lag here as well.  10-30 seconds before anything will move.  Seems to be an issue with dynamic lighting, and I don't understand why it's spiking my CPU so much.   Intel i7 9900k processor 64gb DDR 4 Ripjaw ram 2080ti video card 1500w plat rated PSU Asus tuf motherboard 1tb SSD  I run in VR at max settings on a high end racing sim with a full motion cockpit and it runs smoother than Roll20.

Have you by any chance turned on Global Illumination at the same time as Advanced Fog of War? That's a known bug that is a performance killer.

To begin with, this thread is a month old, back when there was a widespread lag issue, so this one is unlikely to be related to earlier parts of the thread. Also, the issue is almost certainly not with your hardware, unless there is a very specific conflict. I can run regular LDL on a Chromebook. Another source of sever lag is autocomplete and autofill (more reportedly in Firefox) You could try turning those off, though they are more likely to pop up when entering text into a field. Something else to check is the size of the map and size and number of graphics on that map. A pages with hundreds of graphics can slow down, as can a page with one immense graphic (say over 10-20 MB). If none of these refer to your setup, it might help if you posted screen shots of page and token settings are refer to lighting. Also, what has led you to associate the lag with DL? Does it disappear if you turn DL off on a page? And are you using Legacy or Updated?

The reason I associate the lag with DL is the fact that it goes away when I turn it off.  I'm running the latest version of everything on roll20, and my driver software for my pc is 100% up to date as well.  I will test running without auto-fill on, but I'm running on chrome and not firefox, but at this point, I'll try anything to fix the lag issues I've been having.

I had severe lag early on last night, but just like last week, I find it hard to attribute to Roll20. My whole computer crashed. After the restart, things were relatively smooth and zippy. Which leads me to another performance tip, that I forgot to do last night. Before a game session, I restart my computer, just to make sure that nothing is lingering from another app or previous browser activity.
