Server Lag Friday May 1, 10 PM EST

Team! Great job! Great Product! Keep up the fantastic work!! This may be something you are well aware of but Friday May 1, 10 PM EST the server lag was so bad from the Detroit area that we uspended our session. Video is disabled on my game, we use a seperate application for that so as to ease the traffic on the roll20 side I was unable to switch pages to move from one mapt to the next. irrespective of the page selection my screen showed the map i was previously on. I assume this is just unprecedented usage on Friday nights, but it was bad enough that we stopped playing. I have very fast internet and very capable hardware. we are playing again this friday so I will get an idea if this is just too busy of a time.

S0 this exact issue is happening again. I hate to be that guy but I'm done with Roll20.net. If it were just me then it would be no big deal but I just cancelled a game with 6 other people for the second night in a row. I can share a jpg map over Google meet in paint.net but that takes prep time, which I spent on roll20, which now does not work. for the 2nd week in a row. I get that you guys are slammed with new people but there is a way communicate that you are aware of the issue and working on it.
So it looks looks you received no response. I'm having the same issues, and trying to find out why.

There are many possible reasons for lag. The most common one for severe lag is the combination of Advanced Fog of War and Global Illumination simultaneously active. There are other possibilities. The current world situation does put a lag on the game, that is undeniable, but it is a lag that is workable with patience. The OP problem with map switching does not sound like traffic lag, though. More specs or a more detailed description of the problem would help. How large are the maps, both in dimensions and file size? Very large maps can lead to poor performance. There are workarounds for this. Players or GMs who have loaded characters down with unnecessary spells can also cause tremendous slowdown. These articles lists ways to improve performance. Solving Technical Issues Step 1: Make sure to use the right browser Please check if these issues persist when using both Chrome  and  Firefox. Step 2: Ensure that there are no extensions/addons interfering with Roll20 Please disable  all  add-ons/extensions. Step 3: Clear your cache If none of the above succeeds, please thoroughly work through  Step 4 .  (Don't forget the complete Console Log!)
I have found a solution that works better for my party. We are fortunate enough to have substantial local cloud infrastructure within our party and have deployed a self hosted VTT solution. That said, here are the specs on my issue in case it helps others. 4 maps @ 30x70px from <1 Meg to 3.5 Megs in size. one Jpg per map layer no FOW no Dynamics lighting 6 journal entries no character sheets no video no spells really fast internet really fast computer good luck!
