Noob question - when I purchase tokens or otherwise on the marketplace, do I get the actual file (as in, able to take it and use it in other VTT apps), or are market purchases tied into / solely useable by roll20?
Most are downloadable. Generally if some asset isn't downloadable, it will have a label saying it is only usable on Roll20. The "default" is for things to be downloadable as far as tokens, map tiles, and assets.
You can can search with downloadable as a filter as well: <a href="https://marketplace.roll20.net/browse/search?category=itemtype:Art&tag=Downloadable:Yes" rel="nofollow">https://marketplace.roll20.net/browse/search?category=itemtype:Art&tag=Downloadable:Yes</a>
