Styling roll buttons will be the death of me, please help?

I'll try to keep this short 'n sweet. What I want: 3 roll buttons in a row; First is a normal roll (1D20+stat), second is a roll with advantage (2D20+stat, using the better roll), third is a roll with disadvantage (2D20+stat, using the worse roll). I need to be able to style the buttons so they all look different from one another. In a perfect world, I'd love to be able to replace the roll buttons with my images: Just like that. Except functional, obviously, not just images. My issue: I have no idea what I'm doing! I've tried using the methods explained on this page to turn the actual roll button invisible and then put my image in the same position, but sorted behind the button, but I couldn't get the image to show up that way; in essence, all I did was turn the whole thing invisible. I've also tried to simplify things (out of desperation) and just color the normal roll buttons black, red, and green respectively; I was able to make those changes work on a test, but the buttons on the relevant part of my sheet wouldn't take the changes for some reason. I'm slowly getting a grip on the coding of the other aspects of this sheet, but the roll-related coding is still an enigma to me. I can maybe figure out the roll template / macro business on my own (though extra love if any answers here can point me in the right direction!) but what has me really stumped is just styling these damn buttons. Does anyone at the very least have examples of buttons like I'm aiming for that work? The image "replacing" the button is ideal, but really I'd settle for just anything that would distinctly set them apart from one another, because I feel like this is just asking for confusion. Thanks in advance!
