Hello everyone,
We are looking for players for a Star Trek Adventures game that I’ll be
running in the near future, after some collaboration with the players selected
for the game. This particular game is
for Federation Starfleet characters. We
will possibly consider games for other governments, etc at a later date.
The positions that are available for players are:
Captain (All Eras)
First Officer/Executive Officer
(All Eras)
Chief Medical Officer
(Doctor, All Eras)
Chief Tactical/Security Officer
(These can be either two separate officers, or one officer. In the ENT Era, commonly one officer called
an Armory Officer)
Chief Engineer
Chief of Operations
(sometimes called Chief Operations Manager; in the ENT and TOS Era, usually
functions split between Science, Engineering and Communication)
Chief Counselor
(Only available in TNG and later era; During the ENT and TOS Era, this function
was fulfilled by the Chief Medical Officer)
Chief Flight Control Officer
(also called Helmsman or Conn Officer; in TOS Era, position was a two man team,
Helmsman and Navigator)
Chief Science Officer
*MACO (Military Assault Command
Operations) Commander ( only if the game is set in the Enterprise
era. The MACOs were disbanded after the
formation of the Federation)
We are also going to be using the rules for Secondary
Characters as well. A Secondary
Character is not required , but would
be helpful and appreciated if you choose to create one.
We will have a Session 0 to discuss the era and time period the game will take
place in, the type of ship, the mission type, etc. Whatever the main thrust of the campaign will
be (usually one of exploration), you may occasionally be given an assignment
for a different mission type. These
assignments are usually brief and temporary.
We are looking for a pretty heavy roleplay focused group with appropriate character
behavior realistic in relation to the situation. There will be drama, comedy, action, combat,
and all the other stuff you see in a typical Star Trek episode. But the main impetus of the game is
interaction and character development along the way, and having fun in the
process.
We are in the Eastern USA time zone (UTC
-5) . There is some catch up/yak time
around the beginning part of the game for player interaction, so the time isn't
rigid. Typically, we play about 4 hours,
though sometimes it’s longer, sometimes it’s shorter. We use Discord for voice chat, and Roll20 for
the actual game of course.
The game will be on Fridays
at 4 PM (16:00) Eastern Time USA (UTC/GMT -5). This is when the game will take place. Use this link if you are unsure about what
day and time that is in your time
zone. Enter our day and time in the boxes.
The time is in 24 hour format, and the Region for us is North America. In the second box you’d put in Maryland. In the other boxes, put your Region and Country, or whatever is applicable and hit
Calculate. This will tell you what day
and time the game time is in your
time.
<a href="https://www.thecalculator.co/time/Time-Zone-Calculator-169.html" rel="nofollow">https://www.thecalculator.co/time/Time-Zone-Calculator-169.html</a>
If you are unable to play on this day at this time, DO NOT
apply. The day and time will not be
changing.
This is when I can run it. This
is the time I have available to run it.
This is the day and time the game will be. If that doesn’t work for you, causes a
schedule conflict with you, or just isn’t a day and time that tickles your
fancy, don’t apply for this game
because this is when I am able to run it.
If it were negotiable or flexible, I would have put a range instead of a
definite time.
If you are selected for consideration, I'll message you via
the Roll20 messaging and give you the server and my Discord so we can talk more
there about the character you have in mind, and work out details. Please note that I probably will not be able
to respond to each and every person and say whether or not you’ve been selected
for the game. If I don’t send you any
sort of note, this isn’t me being rude, it’s me having limited time like
everyone else.
We're looking for people who actually want to roleplay, and that want to have a
great time with the game and group as a whole, rather than those in the smaller
percentage of people who are and just want to be disruptive and obnoxious.
The species will be restricted to those in the rulebooks (I
can help you get access to them if necessary), according to the era and time
period we end up playing in. There are a
few third party species builds that I have approved for play, and can get you
their information as well.
We are looking for :
18+ mature and open minded/accepting individuals. The age restriction doesn't mean everything
is going to be solemn and stuffy by any means, it has mostly to do with
language, content, etc.
We are an open table. This means we
are accepting of LGBTQ+ people as much and as readily as we accept anyone
else. Insults, slurs, and other negative
behavior towards anyone by anyone
will not be tolerated.
Knowledge of Star Trek and the Star Trek Adventures game is useful
and helpful, but by no means required . The number one thing we're looking
for is players to have fun with us. The
knowledge is a perk, but not a
requirement
NO min/maxers or “must be the ultimate badass” types - If you're the
type of player that tries to create the most invincible ultimate badass
character that can do everything, succeeds at everything, makes no mistakes,
and is perfect with no flaws, drawbacks, problems, etc then this is not the game for you. Challenge yourself and play an interesting
and engaging character that is as normal and as flawed as anyone else. If this doesn’t interest you, this is not the game for you.
People that are passionate about roleplaying believable and realistic
characters within the framework of the setting of the game . Crazy assed concepts won’t fly. Playing a unique and interesting character
doesn't mean coming up with the most outlandish asshat you can conceive. Please don’t waste both your time and mine by
trying to pass off something crazy. Be
mature.
This includes being passionate about your characters being
realistic in the context of the game.
This isn’t a Monty Python or Benny Hill romp, it’s Star Trek. It has drama, suspense, comedy, a little bit
of everything.
People with a sense of humor and who enjoy interacting with your fellow
players as both players and characters .
People who are actually going to be team players, and not a bunch of "I
want to go do my own thing" types. I’m running one game for however many players we have, not running a game for you and another for the rest of the
group. I’m also not running individual games for each player.
NO rules lawyers . I’ll most
certainly make the occasional mistake or forget something. If I forget a rule or am not sure about it, I
make an on the spot ruling. We can fix
it later. If you disagree with my on the
spot ruling in those situations, discuss it with me after the game, not
during it . If I made a mistake,
we'll fix it and be aware of it for future events.
I want everyone that plays with me to have fun, to have a great time, and even
make some friends out of the deal if possible. If, for whatever reason, the game isn't fun,
or there's an issue or problem I need to attend to, tell me . Sure, I like being
told about how good the game is, or that tonight's session was really fun, like
anybody else. But if there's something
wrong, or negative, tell me about it .
That way I can take steps to fix it. I can't
fix a problem when I don't know there is
a problem. I prefer communication
between my players and me.
So, if you’re interested enough to have read this far,
please do me a favor and fill out this short form. It’s to help me gauge the interest in which
era and time period everyone is most interested in playing. It’ll cut down on some time during Session
0. The link is here

At any rate, I know that's pretty long, but if it sounds like something you'd
enjoy, drop me a line and we'll see what we can do!
The current plan/hope is to have Session 0 this Friday May 29, 2020 at 4 PM Eastern Time
USA (UTC/GMT -5). This will be
dependent upon the number of suitable responses and everything coming
together. Thank you for your interest!
