DM looking for players for Rise of the Runelords adventure path.

Hey all. I'm pretty new to DMing Pathfinder, so a little bit of patience would be good, but I've got a decent amount of experience DMing 4th Edition (yes, I know they're very different. :P ) Hell, I'd be happy to have a rules lawyer in the game to help me get things right. I tried DMing a Pathfinder game before, but the group didn't take the game seriously, often going off on tangents, getting distracted, showing up late (if at all) etc. So I cancelled the game. Because of this, I'm going to have to ask that players be 18+, mature and focused on the game. I don't enjoy being the strict DM, so please don't make me be. I'm in GMT, so please be able to make a GMT oriented time for playing. Average game length is usually about 4 - 5 hours. Games are played over Skype and using R20. Please don't make a character yet! I want to get everyone together into a call to set up their characters together.

I'm definitely interested in this. Some details: A) Long-time GM, sometime player. I've GMed 4E, Pathfinder, PF: Beginner Box, 13th Age and Star Wars EotE. I've played in 4E, Pathfinder and EotE. B) The one recurring issue I've found across multiple games I've played in has been that of combat. I've found that I don't enjoy combats that take longer than 30 minutes. You'll find that I typically complete my turns in under 30 seconds if no roleplay or extended skill checks are involved. My GMing style has typically involved including outs for combat encounters and making the encounters that do occur short and lethal. C) The one recurring issue GMs have found with me is my availability. I'm between jobs currently post-college, and I'm also trying to maintain an ever-changing social life. I am likely to be available for a full 4-5 hour session at least one day out of every weekend. I am MST, and evening hours on weekdays are also generally available. D) I am open to playing a range of characters and fit well into most parties/the ideal story the GM wants to tell. --EDIT: I'm also a generally fun person and not nearly as business-like or perfunctory as this pitch!
Hi Will, sounds great and I would love to play. Can you advise what days and times are you thinking of running this so that I know if im available and can then apply more fully. Thanks
My bad, I should've mentioned that. I was thinking of sorting out the times later on so that we can get a time that's suitable for everyone. I personally think that personality is more important than the ability to show up at the arbitrary time I'd make up off the top of my head to answer that question. ;)

Sounds interesting, i would like to join :) - got quite some experience with pathfinder. :) - i am in CEST timezone, so gtm Works for me. :)
Greetings , a GMT DM? Finaly :) . GMT+2 here , ~9 months of pathfinder experience with more then a few chars just ready to go. Love playing wizards, but will fill in any roll that's needed. Hopefully it's a weekend game (Saturday/Sunday morning/lunch preferred). I am 24 with a steady schedule to work around . Cheers :)
Thanks Will, do you plan on playing this weekly, fortnightly or monthly? If its weekly them im up for Tues - Thur nights. If its weekends then I can only commit to fortnightly or monthly, Sundays would be the best weekend day for me.
It'll likely be a weekly game taking place on Sundays.

Hey Will, I am also interested, I have a few months of mixed Pathfinder, 3.5e, and 4e experience, playing and DMing. Brand new to Roll20, as may be evident. I find both roleplaying and roll-playing fun, work well with others, and I am occasionally funny. I made a joke once. Full disclosure, though, I work rotating shifts. My schedule is constantly changing, but I generally have a week of forewarning. EDIT: Forgot to mention! I'm on the US east coast.
I'd like to join your game, it's not easy to find a game, since I can basically only play on Sundays. So if you're planning on playing in the late afternoon or night on Sunday that'd be a great fit for me. A few facts about me: - I'm 28 - Been playing 3.5 for a very long time, pathfinder for about the last 4 months. - I enjoy playing most class rolls, so I can fit into whatever is needed. - I'm on eastern U.S time - I've GM'd in real life before, but not on here, I want to get to know the ins and outs of roll20 before I do.
Depending on time I can do Sundays, if we get an afternoon/evening slot for 4-5 hours that would be sweet. Bit of info about myself, im certainly over 18 closer to twice that! Been a player and GM for about 25 years but took a 10 year break due to moving away from my home town and other life events. Got back into GMing about a year ago by contacting a few of my old group and with the magic of the internet and Roll20 we could play together again. So been running an M&M3e & D&D4e game on Roll20. Now looking to get into a game as a player so I can see what its like from the other side and hopefully use that to help me improve my online GMing. Have not played Pathfinder but have read the core books as its one of the systems I was considering running when getting back into roleplay.
Hey guys! I am available most Fridays from 6pm to 11pm EST, most Saturdays before 10 pm, and pretty much anytime Sundays. I would love to join as a player. I used to big into DnD when I was younger, like 2nd edition era, and recently picked up 4E and Pathfinder Core Books. I would love to play a Druid/Shaman character, but also enjoy fighters or rogues. I love to do character creation either as a group or one on one with the DM. Hope to hear from you!
I'm interested in joining you, Will, if you've got the space. I'm 28 and been playing RPGs since I was 10, most of my experience is in D&D 3.5 and Pathfinder--I'm a perpetual DM in my real life games so I'd be happy to join a regular game as a player. I like playing with inexperienced players because they're typically less jaded than old hands and I never read D&D/Pathfinder forums because I don't want to be jaded myself. I play any class or race needed, although I tend to stick to Core Rulebook stuff with the occasional Alchemist thrown in for variety. I like games with a mix of roleplay and crunchy mechanics, but try not to lean too hard in either way and I totally feel your pain about groups not taking the game seriously enough. Jokes and tangents are okay in moderation, but I like to play the game. I'm available pretty much every Sunday and most Fridays. I can probably make most other times/days with enough warning to get my schedule in order.
I would also like to throw in my interest to be one of the players. I am on Eastern USA time, so that's 5 hours earlier than you, so there's a really good chance that I could make the time. I have no problem with new DMs (I just started back up DMing myself after 10 years). I have been playing Pathfinder for about 2 years now (June 14th will be 2 years), and have a pretty decent grasp of the rules. I have joined many groups on this website, but unfortunately the vast majority disband because of playstyle clash, players just never showing up (either on the first session or after the first session), or DMs cancelling (because they stop showing up or they decide to one day no longer want to DM anymore, usually after 1 or 2 sessions). I make a point not to flake out, as it annoys the crap out of me when others do it, so I am a very reliable player. I typically don't make characters based solely on the numbers, though I can do so. I just don't find that type of character fun to play. If there is still room to join, I would love to be able to play. I can play any class or race, though I normally go for the frontliners.
Damn, honestly, I never thought I'd get quite so many people wanting to join. I'm going to have to say no to some of you people, but please don't take it personally! I'm looking to start the game next Sunday, the 8th of June. I was hoping to start it this week, but my work schedule is rather ridiculous this week due to it being TT (the whole island goes a bit mental for two weeks). Because the majority of interest has been from people over in America/Canada, I'll be doing my best to accommodate that by setting the game at around 8pm GMT (you'll have to work out what time that is for you individually). Also, if you're available for that time weekly, please keep in mind that pretty much everyone here has played more Pathfinder than I have. So if you do end up playing, please have a bit of patience while I learn. I'll get things wrong. I'm human. :P Finally, I hope it should be obvious, but I'm not looking for people who've played Rise of the Runelords before. So, if you're still interested, please add me on Skype and let me know who you are on here, too. My Skype is "broken.legends" Without the quotation marks, of course.
